Fitness Education is an elective primarily focused on educating students on the importance of fitness, as well as improving their own fitness levels through developing the correct training program to fit the needs of the specific sport or activity.
Students thoroughly explore the different fitness components, training methods, and training principles needed to facilitate a training program, along with the acute and chronic adaptations that can be gained from adhering to a training program.
Students also complete practical-based work to experience the different training methods used in a program, including continuous, interval, fartlek, resistance, and plyometric training.
Students will also engage in learning to understand the musculoskeletal system and how it influences movement. With this knowledge, students will also learn about the energy systems and the fuels they work off to function.
