Ever wondered why books become movies? Or how a single story can look completely different on stage, on screen, at a different time, or through someone else’s eyes. ‘Rewrite the World’ looks at a wide range of different text types such as: novels, stage productions, film and TV, songs, graphic novels, games, and even fanfiction!
In this elective, you will examine how stories have transformed across different mediums, evaluate the effectiveness of different representations of groups over time, the creative choices made by authors and directors, and the effect these choices have on the final products. This is your chance to dive into big ideas like justice, racism, identity, growing up and coming of age, power and prejudice.
You will also get the chance to write your own adaptations, perform dramatic readings, and respond to powerful themes that still matter today. If you love storytelling, shows, or writing your own twist on things, this is the subject for you!
