This elective offers you the opportunity to study the theme of Displacement and Searching for Belonging and Connectedness. This includes being exposed to the voices of the migrant experience in the past and the present day through a range of multi-modal text-types and voices. 

We explore the effects of modern-day conflicts and crises such as the Ukraine War and Middle Eastern Experiences such as that in Afghanistan and Israel-Gaza conflict, the African Experience, the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Burmese situation as well as integrating the voices and experiences of the Stolen Generation. 

We explore the challenges of the journey, the search for a new place and trying to fit into a new and different world. We explore multiple voices and perspectives and the inter-generational trauma faced as well as the contributions that migrants have made to shape their new place and to find a sense of identity and belonging.
