Derick never wanted to fight in the Eclipse war. When the Lights refused to let their people remain neutral, he left alongside his wife and children, eventually choosing to join the Shadows instead. Their willingness to let people choose their own path was something Derick deeply valued, especially when it meant protecting his family's freedom to do the same. Though the war forced him into circumstances he never wanted, Derick remains a gentle and determined transman who believes everyone deserves the freedom to be themselves.

Derick has a sturdy, muscular build, with messy brown hair cut short and striking pink eyes, each marked by the outline of half a heart. Small cuts and tears are scattered across his skin, most noticeably around his left ear, upper arm and right cheek. He wears a fitted gray tank top with a supportive binder underneath, paired with loose pale trousers and comfortable pink sneakers. His simple attire keeps him ready for everyday life while allowing him to move freely and comfortably.
