Second survey Internet use

Introduction

At the end of the year the survey about Internet use was repeated. This second survey was intended to determine to what extent the knowledge of digital media and the importance and use of digital media in the classroom had changed through the work on the project and the collaboration with the other schools.

Evaluation

The answers were evaluated for each school and compared with the first survey. This should provide the individual partners with information on the extent to which their students' know-how has changed in this area. In addition, these changes within the individual schools were compared with one another to determine significant differences.

Separated results of Second Questionnaire of Internet use

The results of the second survey were evaluated individually for each school and compared with the results of the first survey. This made it possible to determine whether and to what extent there were changes.

The results were then evaluated to determine whether the increased use of digital media led to a change in the level of knowledge and use of these media.

Here you can see all collected results of the partner schools being compared and finally evaluated: Comparism of all results.

Evaluation of the second survey on "Internet use".

Looking at the survey, it is noticeable that there are only minor differences in the general questions on the use and handling of social media in particular. However, this changes when it comes to skills and abilities in dealing with digital media.

On the one hand, the results are similar in the areas of what the students have done on the computer so far and whether they are able to put this online and then work with others at three schools (Balaguer,Vallverdu, Pleichach-Kürnachtal). On the other hand, the Gustav-Walle School is often out oft he ordinary. This is most likely due to the fact that the Spanish schools are better equipped in terms of information technology and therefore more experienced in the use of digital media. In the case of the MS Pleichach-Kürnachtal, this is certainly due to the fact that previous Erasmus projects, especially in the field of ICT, have placed great emphasis on the use of digital media, as far as this has been possible with the given equipment. The Gustav-Walle School has different prerequisites, mainly due to structural reasons. For example, there are many students from socially disadvantaged families whose main access to working with digital media, except for mobile phones, is limited to the time spent at school. As a logical consequence, significantly fewer students can create more demanding digital tasks and to continue working on them online.

However, this does not mean that these students are unaware of the importance and opportunities of working with the new media or even reject them. Looking at the statements made by pupils at the individual schools, there are only slight differences. The majority of students believe that using new media helps them to learn in a better, more focused and interested way and in accordance with their level of ability. Many pupils at all schools consider independent work, i.e. using their own computer to develop independent learning content and research the information they need independently, to be important.

All in all, it can be said that the awareness of the importance of the new media, the acceptance and the willingness to work with them are equally present among all students, but there are still some differences in the use of these media between the individual schools, mainly due to structural reasons.
