Needs analysis

During the last years we did various Service learning projects at our school in cooperation with different partners. That way we’ve built up a network and are in contact with several organisations and institutions in our neighbourhood (e. g. kindergartens, elderly people’s home, neighbourhood management) and in town (e. g. councillors, council offices).

Even before the students of our Erasmus group at school could think of creating a questionnaire to find out about the needs in our area, we luckily got the chance to present our Erasmus+ - project “S. O. S. – Social Online Service” at a meeting at the beginning of the school year. Regularly all institutions and organisations are invited for that to talk about activities which are planned in our district and to settle dates. Of course, the idea of S. O. S. was appreciated and we went home with a first inquiry. Some other participants had in mind to contact us.

In addition to that students got an appointment for a meeting with the neighbourhood manager whose office is quite close to school. That goes without saying that they were told some needs.

The Department of Arts and Culture asked if some students could contribute to the official programme on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the destruction of Würzburg during World War II.

At that point students realized that all the inquiries they had so far were more than enough to fulfil for the time being. And it was clear to them that they needed combatants among their schoolmates. Therefore, they brought forward the idea of S. O. S. to the assembly of all class representatives and asked for assistance and helpful collaboration.
