NEEDS ANALYSIS

In order to discover the needs of the community of Balaguer the first step we took was to speak with the Integration technician of the school. She told us that we should get a list of the different social associations in Balaguer. The one who would give us all this information was the city’s social councillor so she phoned the city council and the social councillor came to the school and we informed him about the SOS Erasmus­ project. He said that the city council would be pleased to collaborate with us. He gave us the list with all the different associations so that our students could start with the interviews. The next day, the Catalan teacher gave the students the list, each group of 5 students was given two different associations to interview so they started preparing the questions. Moreover, they prepared a questionnaire for the citizens because they also wanted to know the needs that they thought Balaguer has .They decided not to make a google forms questionnaire because they thought that if they went to the streets they would probably be able to have a wider variety of citizens ( in terms of age, gender, ethnic group, …) and thus the results would be more real. They also visited the associations and interviewed them asking about their needs and possible collaborations.

After doing this needs analysis they evaluated the results and prepared an oral presentation for the English class to explain their findings to the rest of their peers. The results of the survey showed that the majority of people said there was a problem of civility and that there are some dirty spots.Here are two examples of the surveys they did:
