Video conference on June 3rd, 2020

Due to the current situation regarding Covid 19, the coordinating school organized an unscheduled video conference to discuss and plan the further course of the project.

The first informal round of talks showed that there are very large differences between the two countries Spain / Catalonia and Germany / Bavaria in the current pandemic situation. The regions were affected to different degrees by Covid 19 infections. This also applies to the ordered measures to contain the pandemic and the duration of the lockdown. As a result, it is difficult to predict when and if collaboration with a personal exchange will be possible again.

Against this background, the following options were developed for the S. O. S. project:

1. The first project year ends with the implementation and evaluation of the repeated survey on “Internet use” planned for the end of this school year, as scheduled. However, it will be difficult to ensure that all students take part in the survey, as many students, especially in Catalunya, are still only at home schooling.

2. The further planning for the next year is still uncertain, because it must first be seen how the school situation will look at the beginning of the new school year in September 2020.

3. In the event that normal schooling is possible and that the planned project meetings can take place, the program continues as planned, but with adapted project activities.

4. If an actual exchange within the framework of the short-term training (teacher) and student meetings is not possible, an extension of the project by 6 months will probably be requested from the PAD.

5. If the project duration is extended, various activities have been proposed for the transition period until real meeting is possible again:

• Instructions for schools to initiate service learning in the social field

• Extension of the already created app "social online service"

• Offering some services exclusively online

• Establishing a common pool of ideas

These suggestions are to be worked out and / or new ideas are to be conceived by the video conference at the beginning of the next school year.

Depending on how the current situation of the pandemic is at that time, the progress of the project will be finally decided then.
