I use social media quite extensively. To me, it's a blessing because it allows me to streamline and segment information, and conversations and all around improve my overall communication abilities. All of this is because of my autism. In addition, you can filter what you are searching for which is also handy, but only if you have control over what you want to see.
And that's where the problem is at. When it comes to information in your timeline, if you do not want to see something you always have to manually select per message what you don't want to see. Since millions of posts are being made per second there is no end to it and this adds to internet fatigue.
All social media that are offered in the Netherlands should be subjected to a Dutch law stipulating that internet users on Dutch soil are only presented with posts that they have approved via filters upfront to see. By reversing who is becoming responsible for filtering (letting robots, a.k.a. the algorithms of big tech) do the filtering instead of humans we maintain control, regain time and make consuming posts worthwhile again because anything in the timeline is then considered of value to the user.
