Due to my handicaps maintaining the household is a big challenge. Additional help would be very welcome but unfortunately, via regular means this is not possible for me. Therefore I have to resort to the last bastion of possibilities which is the fiscal deduction 'Aftrek Extra Gezinshulp' of my income tax.
The problem is that, unlike other fiscal deductions for individuals, this one is hard-capped to how much income tax you pay annually. But the people that need this fiscal deduction the most, are often the ones with the lowest income in the Netherlands and therefore pay the lowest amount of tax.
This is an unnecessary barrier because more hours of a 'gezinshulp' would actually improve the lives of those with the lowest income brackets and become economically more active therefore working their way up to a higher income bracket.
The solution is very simple either:
The hard-cap limit on how much you can fiscally deduct from your income tax for Extra Gezinshulp is scrapped
Mention on the page of Aftrek Extra Gezinshulp that the rule only applies to how much income tax is paid annually
Ideally, I would like to see option 1 implemented, but I predict this is more challenging than it looks. Option 2 however is very simple to implement as it's just writing one more line of criteria on the page. How hard could that be?
