Middle School

In middle school,  

I would show up with a smile on my face,

And burst out laughing in class each day

I was loud and outgoing

Happy and carefree 

But somewhere along the line, I lost it

That freedom

That innocence 

Sometimes picture my younger self 

And worry that she wouldn’t recognize me
