The Woman with the Red Hair

The Woman with the Red Hair is a short, student-made, horror story. The author of this short story is Maria Martinez-Lopez, a 7th grade student.

Five murders in the span of two years. My father was aware of this, but he still bought the house. Now, I am waking up in the middle of the night listening to the eerie weeping coming from the attic. This house is strange. There are rooms that appear and disappear randomly throughout the day. The howls of pain and sorrow send chills down my spine. The lights flicker and smells of dead animals waft in the night. Yesterday, I saw her. A storm drifted in our town and my closet door swung open. A pale woman with sleek, red hair and a long, white dress. She was looking down at the closet floor, crying. Blood stains and a layer of dirt covered her legs and the bottom part of the dress. She was lurking in the closet. Watching. Waiting. Then, she looked up at me. Her eyes were the same tone as her red hair and tears were streaming down her cheeks. She then showed the most bone-chilling smile. “Jesse. Jesse.” I shivered as my name escaped her lips. She descended into the closet and a clap of thunder shined as bright as the sun. I climbed out of bed and peeked in the closet. She wasn’t there. I never saw the crying lady again. I can still hear her weeping bitterly at night.
