The Four Dimensions is a fictional, student-made story. The author of this novel is Santiago Mendoza, a 6th grade student.
Martinus was a prince from the Kingdom of Gondora. He never wanted to be a prince. He was always talking about how demanding being a prince could be for an 18-year-old, dressing in weird (fancy) clothes, always following directions, and later in life having to rule a whole kingdom. All Martinus wanted was to play with his friends. One day, he found a box lying on his bed. On top of the little box there was a letter. The letter said:
Dear Martinus,
We have seen your perfect battle skills. We would like to recruit you for the National Secret Missions Association (NSMA). We are having a major problem with a feisty dragon named Demetrius. He is quickly taking over our whole universe. If you decide to accept this mission, you will have to live in the association’s facilities. If you join us, please put on the watch sitting inside this box. You will have to go to different dimensions by clicking the buttons on the watch. There are four dimensions, the Earth Dimension, the Air Dimension, the Water Dimension, and the Fire Dimension... Your mission is to collect the stone protected by a mighty king or queen on each dimension. To get this stone, you must compete against said ruler. Once you have the four stones, you will combine them to get a mighty sword that is hopefully enough to defeat Demetrius.
Good luck,
National Secret Missions Association
Martinus quickly got up from his bed. He started packing up.
His father entered the room and asked, “Where are you going?”
“Just on a vacation with my friends,” Martinus lied.
“Ok,” said his father, “When will you come back?”
“Umm, I don’t know,” said Martinus.
“Well, don’t come very late, all right?” said his father.
“Ok,” answered Martinus. Martinus was on his way to the NSMA’s headquarters.
When he got there, there was a woman. She had short orange hair and deep brown eyes.
“Hello, my name is Ms. Autumn,” she said. Ms. Autumn guided Martinus to his room. “This is where you’ll live,” she said, “Tomorrow you will start your training, Martinus, so I recommend you sleep well.”
Martinus’ room was wide, light blue, and filled with a lot of technology he didn’t know what was for. “Wow!” said Martinus, his eyes gleaming with excitement. His bed was filled with buttons that made the bed higher, lower, softer, harder, etc. He was quickly asleep, for it had been a long day.
The next morning, Martinus had to wake up at 6:00am to start his training. He picked up his weapons (sword, axe, watch, [it had the ability to shoot lasers]) and started training. He fought with the well-trained security guards and easily defeated them. Next, he fought with a robot, which gave a much harder fight, but he was still able to beat it. Finally, he fought against Ms. Autumn, which he surprisingly couldn’t defeat. He trained for almost a month, getting stronger each day. One day, he was finally able to defeat Ms. Autumn. “I think you’re ready Martinus,” she said.
That night, Martinus went to sleep, smiling at the ceiling.
The next day, Martinus woke up, wondering what the next step in his mission was. He put on his watch and picked up his weapons.
“Good luck on the Earth Dimension,” said Ms. Autumn, “You’ll need it to defeat Chloris, the Earth Dimension’s queen.” “The Earth Dimension looks similar to this one at first,” she said, “but don’t gain trust that easily, the creatures will make you think they’re your friends just to end up betraying you and probably killing you, too.”
They gave Martinus new and more powerful weapons followed by a new suit of armor.
“This is so cool,” Martinus said, “this is just like in the videogames!”
“Now, when you are ready, click the button that says Earth Dimension to start your journey,” said Ms. Autumn, “I do recommend going in the following order (easier to harder), Earth, Air, Water, and Fire Dimension.” “I think that’s it, you’re ready,” she said. Martinus sighed and clicked the button. A portal appeared in front of him.
As he entered the portal, everything became green. When he got in the dimension, he noticed that there was nothing built, as if humans (or any other creature) had never built anything in that dimension. He did notice many weird creatures. There was a flower that could walk, talk, and basically do anything a human can do. “Hello, I’m Martinus,” Martinus introduced himself, “Do you understand me?” Surprisingly, the flower was very rude.
“Of course, I can understand you,” said the flower, “What did you expect, moron?”
