Report by: Alessandra Ortiz and Alessandra Giselle Fraire
Every school has its own mascot. The University of Texas at Austin has Bevo, TCU has its Horned Frog, and Rice University has Sammy the Owl. It is time for RSA’s own school mascot.
RSA’s new mascot is Alejandro Lozano. He was an idea recommended by Dr. Rodriguez and other teachers. Lozano was stunned to be the mascot and didn’t know what to say. He explained that he was happy about the opportunity, but it was going to be a new experience for him.
We asked Lozano how he felt about becoming Rising Scholars' mascot, and his response was, “Funny, I never thought I’d be a mascot.”
Alejandro Lozano will be present at many events throughout the year. He will be attending pep rallies, home games, sports send-offs, The Christmas parade, The Career Fair, and the color run. His purpose is to bring school spirit, inspiration, and joy. Students will vote for a new name for Alejandro during AIME when he is revealed. Next year, students entering 8th grade will be allowed to try out to be RSA’s mascot.
Mrs. Galvan, the creator of this project, wants students to be active in school, and a good influence, and she especially wants them to know how to dance! Alejandro told us that he is creative, active, and animated. He’s caring, athletic, and he can cheer others up. He’s looking forward to pep rallies, the color run, and sports send-offs. We sincerely thank our new mascot and we hope that Rising Scholars has another great year ahead of us!
