INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION
In establishing the Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines asserts its leading role, as a national polytechnic university, in nation building; that in embedding the University’s core values of truth, service, and excellence in research and innovation, it can ensure a sustainable, prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future for our country.
To ensure that these visions are materialized, the Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation (RISFI) will conduct, support, facilitate, and promote interdisciplinary research that addresses pressing societal problems through its Center for Future Research; RISFI will also support, facilitate, incubate and promote interdisciplinary innovation through the Center for Future Innovation; and the RISF will also conduct and facilitate future thinking and innovation workshops, trainings and courses through the Center for Future Training.

The RISFI recognizes the rapid and sometimes disruptive technological, political, and economic changes that are happening in the world at present and in the near future; changes that are not often beneficial to the society as a whole; and changes that we should prepare for by utilizing foresight, insight, and collective action to create a sustainable world of tomorrow.
The RISFI recognizes the rapid and sometimes disruptive technological, political, and economic changes that are happening in the world at present and in the near future; changes that are not often beneficial to the society as a whole; and changes that we should prepare for by utilizing foresight, insight, and collective action to create a sustainable world of tomorrow.
The RISFI Director has the following functions: a) ensures effective and efficient management of the research programs and administrative affairs of the research centers, which are specifically aligned with the university’s research priorities and agenda; b) maintains the confidence and cooperation of the research centers through ensuring the undertaking of high-quality researches and dissemination of research outputs to the scientific community and other stakeholders; c) initiates and leads in the establishment of strong local, national and international networks with researchers and research institutes in the field of specialization as well as partnerships and/or collaborations with industries and commercial enterprises; d) participates as member of the University Research and Development Council (UREDCO) in the priority-setting, implementation, and evaluation of the research and development program of the university and all other activities under this component of the institute; and , e) ensures the periodic publication of the PUP Journal of Science and Technology and all other activities in the publication and promotion component of the institute

The initial topics are the following: future of energy, future of building, future of food, future of mental health, future of business, future of education, future of human kinetics, and future of artificial intelligence.
