INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION
By producing and deploying knowledge on poverty alleviation and community development, the center provides a space for theoretical reflection that is backed-up by social immersion and scientific research and with a firm commitment to an advocacy for community development towards social transformation. This means that the centre will work with practitioners in the field such as academics, NGOs, community organizations and social movements in the documentation, production and deployment of knowledge from the people to the people. The centre will work at the local, national and global levels by linking with partner organizations such as local and national government units and international organizations that have to do with poverty alleviation and community development initiatives.
Objectives:
To facilitate and produce research proposals on poverty alleviation and community development studies. Funding for these research proposals will be sought by proponents through the help and recommendation of the center.
Through a research program that will be developed by qualified and capable research specialists of the center, a pool of researchers from the students, faculty and external institutions will be established.
To institutionalize the study of poverty alleviation and community development, the center will develop modules for use in courses on these topics. An important task of the center is to organize courses and educational activities which could be included in the curricula of social sciences and other programs.
To establish links with institutions and individuals which/who specialize in the study of poverty and community development.
To forge ties with organizations advocating the eradication of poverty through social action, community research and project development.
To disseminate research outputs through publications, fora and conferencing such as to build an intellectual reputation for the university in general and the center in particular.
Goals:
To understand and address the deep and underlying causes of social problems particularly poverty and social injustice.
To develop research and policy for governance and development particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation and community development.
To advocate for genuine and people-based development in the area of poverty alleviation and community development in the local (Philippines), and international settings.
