INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION
The Center for Labor and Industrial Relations Studies (CLIRS) is a unit under the Research Institute for Human and Social Development (RIHSD), Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development (OVPRED). Its focus is to create labor programs and research studies on labor and industrial relations and to serve as education and training center, establishing networks and linkages among labor groups and organizations while providing support services.
CLIRS is originally the Institute for Labor and Industrial Relations (ILIR) established during Second Semester of School Year 1987-1988 by Dr. Nemesio E. Prudente (December 19, 1927 – March 28, 2008), former President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (1962-1972; 1986-1992), in recognition of what he called the historic role of the Filipino workers in social transformation.
To formulate programs towards the development, promotion and implementation of a research agenda that is labor centered.
To establish and maintain linkages with national and international organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions engaged in similar activities to facilitate research, labor education, and advocacy.
To assist the faculty, staff, and students towards implementing labor centered pedagogy, programs, and research.
To conduct research that could contribute to the existing knowledge on labor studies in the Philippines.
