Historical accuracy was not Longfellow’s goal when he wrote  “Paul Revere’s Ride”. Fearing the approach of a Civil War, “Paul Revere’s Ride” represents his effort to prevent war by reminding his fellow citizens of the spirit of the American Revolution- a time when we worked together to fight for democracy. 


In an essay, analyze a significant moment within the narrative of the poem which reflects the spirit of America, even if it deviates from historical fact.  Support your analysis with at least one passage from the poem and one passage from the Paul Revere House’s  “The Real Story of Paul Revere’s Ride” .
