For the second consecutive time, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has proudly received the Global Award from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). DEWA maintains its prestigious standing in the coveted seven stars category, solidifying its position as a leader in excellence. Notably, DEWA holds the distinction of being the sole organization outside of Europe to achieve this esteemed global recognition, a testament to its commitment to excellence within the EFQM Excellence Model.
Commencing in 2020 amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, this project was initiated with the aim of preparing for the EFQM Global Award (EGA) based on the new EFQM Model 2020. Notably, DEWA had previously secured the Award in 2017, predicated on the EFQM Model 2013. Leading the project alongside my DEWA team, we diligently executed the project management plan, encompassing key elements:
Gap Analysis
Development of Documents and Approaches to Bridge Gaps
Launching Improvement Projects, including Circular Economy Initiatives
Conducting Awareness and Training Sessions for the DEWA Team
Executing Coaching and Mock Assessments for the DEWA Team
The project yielded several significant deliverables, including the establishment of the DEWA Ecosystem, the Circular Economy project aimed at formulating DEWA's Circular Economy strategy and framework, reframing the project's purpose, prioritizing stakeholders, documenting stakeholders' sustainable values, and capturing good practices.
DEWA's attainment of the EFQM Global Award for the second time underscores its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. This achievement is a testament to DEWA's unwavering dedication to excellence and its pioneering efforts in the field. Additionally, I am honored to have received acknowledgment and expressions of gratitude in the feedback report from assessors, recognizing my contributions and collaboration during the assessment process.
It is worth noting that DEWA achieved an outstanding score of 799, which stands as the highest score in the history of the EFQM. This remarkable accomplishment further solidifies DEWA's position as a global leader in quality management and excellence.
