Module 3: Technology
Technologies for online education and learning are abundant, from synchronous meeting tools (Zoom, Teams) to online discussion forums and quizzes. This week, we focused on two pivotal tools - Learning Management System (LMS) and Video-based Learning (VBL). LMS platforms, such as Moodle, are essential for managing and delivering online courses, streamlining the educational process for instructors and learners. Concurrently, we explored the significant role of VBL, which utilizes multimedia to create engaging, interactive, and effective learning experiences. We developed a comprehensive understanding of these technologies and their best practices through various resources and reflective activities, enhancing our knowledge and ability to leverage them in online education.
We prepared a video presentation to discuss LMS and VBL for distance/online education.
LMS (Learning Management System): What is an LMS and its historical development? What are the current leading LMS programs? What criteria should be used to assess and select an LMS? Which LMS is used at your workplace? How was it chosen? What are your thoughts on it?
VBL (Video-Based Learning): How are video programs categorized? What are the best practices for VBL?
