Module 3: Logic Models and Peer Feedback
Module 3 introduced the logic model, a powerful tool for mapping out the natural cause-and-effect relationships in our evaluation projects. We learned how to translate the components of a logic model into actionable evaluation steps, ensuring a seamless connection between theory and practice. Additionally, we engaged in peer feedback, offering and receiving insights to refine our logic models. This collaborative process is vital in the real world, where constructive critiques lead to enhanced project outcomes.
We created a logic model to map out the relationships between program inputs, activities, outputs, and intended outcomes. I went with Option 1, the Logic Model Creation, and I used the template provided to us (with some minor tweaks).
The logic model aligns with the evaluation plan by providing a clear framework to measure success at each stage of implementation. The inputs, funding, professional development, and technology, lay the foundation for program activities, which include training during the often times useless Professional Developments that we sleepwalk through, wearable fitness tracking, and interactive lessons. All things that admin wants in the classrooms, out of the classroom teachers. More interactive classes, peer and interactive feedback, things like that. The evaluation plan will assess these activities through measurable outputs, such as the number of teachers trained, frequency of technology use in PE classes, and learner engagement levels. This will help further the case for integrating Education Technology in PE.
To ensure accountability and effectiveness, the evaluation plan incorporates both short & long-term outcomes. In the short term, teacher confidence in using technology and student participation rates will be assessed through surveys and classroom observations. Additionally, real-time data collected from fitness tracking devices will help measure learner engagement and physical activity levels. Long-term outcomes focus on improvements in learner fitness and long term health habits; our goal in PE is to create lifelong physically active adults, and this goes a long way in doing so. The evaluation plan will track whether learners meet national physical activity guidelines over time, using wearable fitness data and fitness assessments.
An important measurable indicator in the evaluation plan is the percentage of learners meeting daily physical activity recommendations through tech-infused instruction. This data-driven approach ensures that the program’s impact is palpable and aligned with the broader goal of creating lifelong physical active adults. By assessing each component of the logic model, the evaluation plan ensures continuous improvement and long-term success, as well as increased participation & activity in class.
