Reflection Template
Below is a MCC-level / PCC-level reflection template structure built around the ICF Core Competencies + PCC Markers (MCI/MCC behavioural indicators) and commonly used assessment language (ICF PCC/MCC markers, COMENSA-aligned behavioural expectations, and master-level coaching presence indicators).
ICF MCC / PCC REFLECTION TEMPLATE (PCI + MCI BEHAVIOURAL MARKERS)
1. Ethical Practice & Contracting (Foundation)
PCI markers (PCC-level)
Coach clearly distinguishes coaching from therapy, consulting, or advice-giving
Coach establishes/renews agreement for session purpose and coaching scope
Coach respects confidentiality and boundaries of role
MCI markers (MCC-level)
Coach holds ethical neutrality even under emotional intensity
Coach refrains from rescuing, diagnosing, or reframing as expertise
Coach maintains clean separation of client autonomy vs coach influence
What is said / demonstrated in session order
“What would you like to focus on today?”
“What would make this session most valuable for you?”
“What feels important for us to contract on right now?”
Reflection prompts
Where did I fully allow the client to define the agenda without steering?
Where did I subtly introduce structure, assumptions, or direction?
2. Embodies Coaching Mindset (Being state)
PCI markers
Coach demonstrates curiosity over knowing
Coach shows emotional regulation and session readiness
Coach remains client-centered rather than problem-centered
MCI markers
Coach works from deep non-attachment to outcome
Coach uses intuition without attachment to interpretation
Coach maintains “not-knowing stance” throughout ambiguity
What is said / demonstrated
“Tell me more about that…”
“What are you noticing as you say that?”
Silence is held without filling space
Reflection prompts
Where did I shift from curiosity into interpretation or assumption?
Where did I trust silence enough for insight to emerge?

PCI markers
Clarifies session outcome, success criteria, and focus
Revisits agreement when conversation drifts

What is said / demonstrated
“What would success look like for this conversation?”

“Would it be useful to stay with this or shift?”
Reflection prompts

“Take your time, I’m here with you.”
Calm silence during emotional expression
Reflection prompts
Where did I try to reduce discomfort instead of holding it?

FINAL MCC INTEGRATION LAYER (Overall reflection lens)
Use this after every session:
Where did I act from knowing vs not-knowing?
Where did I introduce direction instead of emergence?
Where did the client experience more awareness than before the session?
Where did I reduce complexity instead of deepening it?
Where was my presence most clean and least interfering?
