Game Recap
New Year's Resolution Jamboree @ Ice Works. Aston PA
"Light the Lamp" was the predominant theme for this jamboree!  Once these U-Can players put on those red sweaters and took to the ice, it was all business. Personal achievements were made during the 5 games played.  The banter on the bench was great.  If a player scored a goal, she immediately skated to the bench to acknowledge the goal but more importantly who assisted her:)  Break out passes were a plenty, backchecking & forechecking meant the players could get the puck and make a shot on net.

There was no shortage of goalies who counted how many pucks they saved and no shortage of ways to defend the net, one hand or two hands on the stick, dropping to the butterfly, standing & tracking the puck to make cat-like attempted saves.

M. Heavens made 7 saves in Game 1, E Lemieux had 15 saves and some excellent puck stops in Game 2, A Fox put the pads on for the first time for Game 3 & made 7 saves, D Stephenson had 12 saves in Game 4 and S Jaoudeh to subsequently make 5 saves.

Chemistry was evident with the M3 line (M Richards,  M Heavens & M McHugh) and the AE line (A Fox & E Lemieux).  Sportswomanship was consistent from D Stephenson making sure her teammates were ok and S Jaoudeh working hard to skate & track the puck.

Highlight specifics include Game 1:  E Lemieux getting a goal with an assist from A Fox because of their hard work tracking the puck. M Richards making a breakout pass to

M McHugh who skated hard out of the fray & scored.

Game 2 was a big breakthrough for several of our U-Can players. M Richards earned a ""hatty"" +1 and play maker with two of the goals unassisted.  Her offensive partners A Fox got a goal & 2 assists while M McHugh also got 2 goals & 2 assists.  One of

M McHugh's goal was assisted by S Jaoudeh who bounced the puck off the boards to advance it forward.

Game 3 had D. Stephenson blocking a shot & helping her goalie to prevent a goal.

E. Lemieux starting a nice breakout along with M Heavens getting to the puck and going to the net for shot on goal.

After a well-deserved snack break, Game 4 had M Heavens skating hard along with her teammates to showcase the fundamentals of breaking out of their zone, passing to advance the puck and driving to the net for scoring opportunities.

The final game reflected how far these players have come since September.  The girls skated, strategized & forechecked to get possession of that puck.  These actions resulted in a turnover from the opposing team due to A Fox and E Lemieux working together which resulted in a goal and an assist!

Great day of hockey and another commemorative patched well earned!!!

Game Recap

Lady Patriots - 13, Rangers -2 The Crazy 8’s were back on the ice for some in-house action against the Rangers Saturday morning at a packed Hatfield arena. The game opened with the play going back and forth, but the Lady Patriots broke through and got on the board about midway through the first with a goal from G. Cevoli. Minutes later R. Ilg would find the back of the net to make it 2-0. R. Ilg was far from done as she added her second of five goals to extend the Patriot lead to 3-0. The Rangers scored with about a minute left to make it 3-1 after one. The girls took their game to the next level during the second period and blew the game open. H. Morin, P. “Slay Queen” Demmer and V. “Viper” Dragos each added goals and R. Ilg added two and the second period closed with the Lady Patriots up 8-1. A. Lorand and C. Connors played tough defense and back checked ferociously all game long. Newcomer J. Kleckner played a really good all around game and is settling in nicely on this team. L. Segal came up big whenever called upon with clutch save after clutch save. The girls continued their strong play in the third period and capped off a 13-2 win with a nice wrap around goal from G. Cevoli that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Congrats to our players of the game P. “Slay Queen” Demmer and H. Morin - 2 goals each and fantastic effort throughout the game.

Game Recap

Lady Patriots - 7, Flyers - 3 For the first time this season, the crazy 8’s had their full squad on display for an in-house game against the Flyers Saturday morning. After losing to the Flyers 2 months ago, the Lady Patriots were fired up and everyone wanted an opportunity to even the season series. The girls controlled the play right from puck drop, dominating in the corners and moving the puck with speed and purpose. H. Morin broke the scoreless tie a few minutes in with a strong shot from in front of the net. R. Ilg would add to the lead minutes later, as she tucked a rebound just inside the post. The Flyers scored to cut the lead to 2-1 as the first period came to a close. The Lady Patriots would pick up where they left off with strong defensive play led by C. Connors and J. Scheuermann. They limited the Flyers chances until the offense got going again. Goals by G. Cevoli, P. “Slay Queen” Demmer, and a second by H. Morin stretched the lead to 5-1 after 2. The Flyers came out with lots of energy to start the third, scoring 2 goals to make it 5-3. V. “Viper” Dragos would answer back. …. She skated in and fired a patented Coach Mike snap shot in the top corner of the net for a 6-3 lead. L. Segal shut the door on the Flyers for the remainder of the third with great saves. A. Lorand would cap off the scoring with a strong big shot off a great feed from J. “Smiley” Kleckner. The Lady Patriots would come away with a 7-4 win. Congrats to our players of the game A. Lorand for her all around great play and J. “Smiley” Kleckner who was making tape to tape passes all day and setting up her teammates. Great job girls!!!!!

Game Recap

Lady Patriots - 5, Senators - 4 The Lady Patriots took on the undefeated Senators in a matchup of the top two in-house teams in the league. The game lived up to the hype, as both teams battled for the full sixty minutes. The Senators grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first period in a game that saw both teams playing great defense. H. Morin would get the LP’s on the board as she overpowered the Senators defender in the slot and delivered a hard shot that beat the goalie. The Senators quickly regained the lead right before the buzzer. Trailing 2-1 the LP’s had some great opportunities to tie the game, but it was the Senators who scored on a breakaway to extend their lead to 3-1. The Crazy 8’s never flinched. They continued to work hard getting great play from A. Lorand and J. Scheuermann. L. Segal made great saves to keep the girls within striking distance. Then V. “Viper” Dragos got the LP’s within 1, as she beat a defender and ripped a shot over the goalies pad to make it 3-2. C. Connors would get the equalizer shortly after that as she buried one with a hard shot from the high slot. The second ended with the score tied 3-3. The girls kept the momentum going in the third as C. Connors went on the forecheck, stripped the Senators defense of the puck and centered a perfect pass to R. Ilg who snapped it past the goalie and gave the LP’s their first lead of the game. H. Morin would get her second of the game to make the score 5-3. G. Cevoli lead a suffocating LP defensive game which gave the Sentors little to no ice to work with. The Senators would make it interesting and scored with about 3 minutes to play, but the girls clamped down and came away with a 5-4 win: After starting the in-house league 0-2, the Lady Patriots found their footing and have won 5 in a row. Congrats to our players of the game R. Ilg who was flying around the ice all game and G. Cevoli whose relentless play on both ends helped secure the win.

Game Recap

Lady Patriots 2-Little Flyers Orange 1
Game recap Sunday, Dec. 10th

Lady Patriots 14U AA  faced off against rival Little Flyers Orange Sunday in an extremely competitive and physical match up, ultimately a 2-1 LP win. LP dominated the first period with plenty of offensive hustle, keeping gameplay primarily in their offensive zone. K. Wenhold found the back of the net at the 7:29 minute mark after receiving an outlet pass right out of the penalty box from M. O’Neill. Lady Patriots scored again with 17 seconds left in the first period while on a power play, goal M. O’Neill assisted by T. O’Keefe, and ultimately the game-winning goal.

The second period was dominated by penalties, seven total, five of which were committed by LP. The big story here is Lady Patriots successfully defended 5 power plays, keeping LF Orange scoreless through the second.

Lady Patriots continued to lead 2-0 until LF finally found the back of the net at the 8:31 minute mark in the third period. Final score LP 2-LF 1. A huge shout out to Lady Patriots goalie and player of the game R. Swidorski for saving 34 out of 35 shots on goal. Also, a big defensive shout out to the entire Lady Patriots team for playing intense physical hockey all three periods and successfully defending seven power plays. Finally, shout out to defender A. Amato for igniting the defensive spark and staying focused on keeping the puck in our offensive zone.
