U19 A vs Mighty Moose

The Lady Patriots U19A fell short to the Mighty Moose this weekend with a score of 4-1.

The solo goal was scored by I. Grusheski (1) in the first period with the assist from I. Carter. It has been an intense season between the two teams, and they face off again soon in December!

U10 vs Jr Flyers

FIRST SHUTOUT ALERT!!!!! Goaltender P. Rogers recorded her first ever shutout Saturday in a matchup against the JR Flyers.

In an uncharacteristic evening matchup, 10U came ready to play as a team and began tenacious play from the first puck drop. Striking first was O. Connors with A. Frantz adding a tally just 12 seconds later to put the Patriots up 2-0. About a minute later, A. Willison scored off a fantastic assist from K. Smoyer. Rounding out the scoring for the first period, O. Connors earned her second with a stellar assist from D. Thomas!

The second period saw significantly increased team play with the Patriots utilizing teammates and finding the open player for ideal support passes. Strong offensive pressure kept the JR Flyers on their heels and steadfast positioning allowed the Patriots to continue puck pressure from the blue line amidst shift changes. C. Schultz added to the Patriots goals with assists from T. Fistick and K. Smoyer. D. Thomas rounded out scoring for the second period with assist from A. Willison and S. Carter.

Line shakeups in the third did not deter the Patriots from finishing strong with one last goal added by V. Naticchione with an assist from D. Thomas! P. Rogers turned away all 4 shots faced in the third to secure her first shut out. The Patriots saw strong back checking throughout the game to shut down most JR Flyer rushes and swiftly made turn overs seamless breakouts lead by A. Yarborough with A. Bucci always in the right spot to receive a feed from the defensive core.

Coaching staff is proud of all the assists seen in this game and look forward to the continuation of this at the next game! Due to an impressive team game, hardest worker and most vocal was awarded to the entire team as each player demonstrated superb teamwork from end to end.

Women's Red vs Philadelphia Freeze

Lady Patriots Red met the Philly Freeze for the second time of the season and came out with a win at the Jefferson Health Northeast Skate Zone.

This is the first Win for Lady Patriots Red.

Welcoming back last years goaltender, B. Shortall in net.

Lady Patriots 3 of the 4 goals were made by first time goal scorers A. Hershman, A. Volpe, and C. Parrish with the final goal scored by S. Hettler.

Women's Blue vs Jaguars

Sunday, 11/14, the Patriots Blue finished off their fourth game at home to start the season by playing the Jaguars.

Always a chippy and close scoring affair, this game would be much the same from a physical stand point. The Patriots came out hard during the first frame, knowing the best way to play the Jaguars is to get on the board early and often, and that’s just what the ladies would do. Halfway through the first period, the Patriots would strike first with a goal from S. Fothergill, on assists from J. Schneider and K. Smith. Just over a minute later, the Patriots would storm up the ice and pot another one home by L. Peterson, assisted by B. Carra. Late in the first period with a minute and a half to go, Carra would join the scoring and put the Patriots up 3-0 to end the first. Though the Patriots were outshot by the Jaguars, the Patriots were opportunistic when it mattered to take a comfortable lead.

The second period would prove to be more physical as the Jaguars began to really pressure the Patriots and try to mount a comeback. This would not intimidate the Patriots, who would open the scoring halfway through the period, on a goal by C. Latchum, assisted by Schneider. A few minutes later, the Jaguars would score on a wrap-around play. The Patriots tightened up defensively, frustrating the Jaguars for a majority of the period. With less then ten seconds to go, the Jaguars would score their second of the period off a deflected shot, to cut the Patriots lead in half heading into the final frame.

From the start of the third period, the Patriots were in a shutdown mindset, and set the pace for the remainder of the game. Schneider would score three minutes in to extend the lead by 3. With six minutes remaining, Carra would score her second of the game, off a pass from G. Migliore to put the nail in the coffin. The Jaguars would add one more before the conclusion of the game, but it was too little too late, and the Patriots walked away with a decisive 6-3 victory. The Patriots are now 3-1 on the season.

Goalie K. Haley made 29 saves on 32 shots, for her league leading third win between the pipes this season.

The Patriots will have a well deserved break before they head to New Jersey for their first road game of the season against none other than the Jaguars, on 12/11, where they look to continue their winning ways in the early part of the season.

U12AA vs. Princeton Tigerliles

The Lady Patriots 12AA team played a very strong Tigerlilies team on Sunday. With a handful of girls missing, the team was forced to play with a short bench and players playing away from normal position.

Despite an uphill battle from the drop of the puck coach Scott and Keith are proud of the girls for fighting all the way through and never giving up making an improvement from last weeks game vs the Tigerlilies.

Player of the game was received by goal tender R. Swidorski as she faced close to 60 high quality shots! She didn’t like the decision allowing 11 goals but she didn’t … the team did. She made 48 incredible saves along with her leadership is why she got player of the game!

Q. Gorniak and H. Meyers were called up from 12A to help and they both did a solid job against a top 12AA team!

Women's White vs Hawks Black

Following up on their 6-1 win against American Valor, Lady Patriots White came out ready for another victory.

D. Orlando set the tone of the game with a goal early in first, followed up with another goal by A. Hager with 5:34 left in the period.

The Hawks retaliated with a goal quick at the start of the second period. The teams were evenly matched, and equally determined to win.

The Hawks scored their second goal in the third, the game ending in a tie. The Lady Patriots played a defensive and strong game overall, with a short bench of only 8 skaters.

K. Bohr held the net, stopping 19 shots and defending the crease against the kettle of Hawks.

U12A vs Lehigh Valley Phantoms Youth

This past Saturday the 12A squad hosted the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in their first league matchup of the season. The girls skated hard and are starting to improve their overall game with some good passing plays and rushes up ice. After going down 0-1 in the first period the Patriots responded with the tying goal just 23 seconds later. A. Richards made a great defensive play in her own zone getting the puck up the boards to spring E. Kremser deep into the zone who then made a beautiful centering pass to a net crashing E. Mays for a spectacular one timer goal and her first as a Lady Patriot!

Tough play continued through the second and third periods with the Phantoms controlling the blue line and keeping the Patriots hemmed into their own zone.

A third period goal for the Phantoms was the sealer as they would go on to win 2-1 over the Patriots.

MVP (Most Valuable Patriot) of the game goes to M. Stahl who faced an astonishing 51 shots on goal! This was yet another spectacular performance by the Patriots net minder.

U12A vs WBS Knights

On Sunday the Patriots u12A played host again but this time to the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Lady Knights.

This was by far the best game the 12A squad has delivered all year as all players brought their A-game! B. Herold got the Patriots on the board early in the first period with a great rush up the left wing and writing a top shelf goal over the Lady Knights goaltender. She continued by scoring her second goal of the game in the second period off a fantastic rush out of the zone by A. Richards who pushed the puck up the neutral zone to a waiting Herold who went in on a breakaway to score her fourth of the year!

The Patriots continued to battle the Lady Knights who had many strong chances of their own but were stymied by net minder M. Stahl who once again was on top of her game. Some great zone time and puck cycling on the second period led to more opportunities for the Patriots. One of the these chances came off a strong blue line hold by E. Slobodrian who threw the puck into the slot to a waiting C. North who put away her first goal as a Lady Patriot to take a 3-1 lead!

In the third, a strong defensive zone face-off win charged A. Micciche to grab the puck and, like she had been shot out of a cannon, explode up the left wing leaving multiple Lady Knights in her dust and break in on net to put the puck top shelf for her third goal of the year!

In the closing seconds of the game, another great offensive zone hold and proper positioning around the net had C. Cohen pumping in her first goal as a Lady Patriot on a beautiful backhand shot closing out the game for a 5-1 win!
