U8 vs In House Knights

The Lady Patriots u8 kicked off their Sunday morning with an in house match up against the Knights. Snow didn’t slow these girls down, they brought the heat from the minute their skates hit the ice.

With several successful passes and goals, P. Hartz showed exactly what it means to play hard. A. Myers had strong puck handling which helped her and her team score goals. D. Strobel skated harder and stronger in todays game, which paid off with her scoring. S. Richards aka

Schimmy; showed the Knights exactly where her sweet spot on the ice is adding to the goals in net. E. Asterito continues with the strong defense and launched the puck down the ice adding to the goals scored by the Patriots.

Taking turns in goal, A Negro kicked off the game as first in goal and had several great saves which set the tone for the rest of the game. L. Thomas has been playing smarter hockey and it’s paying off; working as a team she earned a hat trick. E. Sprague held her own defending the puck in several against the boards fight for the puck. S. Bambi finished the final period in goal, proving she can defend her goal and skate out any day.

The girls were up against a strong goal tender with the Knights but ultimately proved that by working together they were able to add another win to their in house roster.

UCan at February Freeze

These set of games were the best for our team because the players showcased their hard-earned puck handling skills, sportswomanship, and strong battles for the puck.

U-Can is grateful for the help from our U8 team in providing defense and a goalie when needed.

Game 1 saw C. Connors in goal with 4 straight-up saves supported by U8's ""Shimmy Shay"" who not only scored but made several passes which resulted in E. Gibbs getting a goal.

From Game 2 came the emergence of the ""Dynamic Duo"" of M. Noga & T. Medina working well together to breakout and pass the puck to gain entrance into the offensive zone. M. Montagna stood tall in net to make an impressive 5 straight-up saves.

Game 3 had C. Christouin net, tracking the puck to make her 5 exciting saves. Our newest player, A. Reddy, skated hard behind the net to gain possession of the puck with C. Connors skating to do the same. The ""Dynamic Duo"" pair (T. Medina & M. Noga) continued their relentless pursuit of the puck and support of each other to get multiple offensive opportunities.

Game 4 had U8's D. Stroebel in net to give us the wall of support we needed. Huge validating moment for the coaches as a successful breakout involved 4 players ( M. Noga, M. Montagna, C. Christou, & E. Gibbs) battling hard in the corner for puck possession which netted a goal from E. Gibbs's high slot hard shot! C. Christou provided a huge backcheck to prevent a goal.

Game 5 had our newest player, A. Reddy, deciding to step up and give being the netminder a try. She tracked the puck, made three saves, and had fun doing it all the while being supported by her teammates and everyone trying to make stick-to-stick passes for breakouts. Speaking of support, G. Pinegar traveled to the jamboree to cheer on her teammates even though she couldn't play!

In the 6th & final game, another player M. Noga decided to be in goal for the 1st time this year, following in the skates of her grandmother, who was on hand to watch with pride. She embraced the moment, making 11 exciting saves including a butterfly pad save. Our netminder was supported by all of her teammates, sensing this is the last game of the season and wanting to leave everything on the ice. E. Gibbs made a diving backcheck to save a potential score, A. Reddy, C. Connors, C. Christou M. Montagna were relentless in their pursuit of the puck and attempt to enter the offensive zone and T. Medina never waivered in supporting her netminder.

Congratulations U-Can on a great Jamboree season! Your coaching staff is extremely proud of each and everyone of you.
