Lady Patriots Youth Team News

Game Recaps from September 25-26 2021

U8 at Iceworks Jamboree - September 25, 2021 Games 1 &2

Lady Patriots 8U team shined in the 2021 Atlantic District Mite Jamboree. The team was bright eyed and ready to go despite a 5:15am wake-up to make the 7:00am start in Aston.

The first game saw our first goalie E. Asterito and her defensive core of R. Lafratta , A. Negro and S. Richards held off the Chester County Cougars while our strong offensive showing by E. Sprague, P. Hartz, A. Myers and J. Plante showed us all that hard work has rewards.

In the second game the Hurricanes were frustrated by the stone wall that Hartz backed the team up with while our small but feisty players Negro, A. Pinchuk, D. Strobel and Lafratta kept their feet moving and avoided the sticks of the young Hurricanes and showed us that hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. Richards and L. Thomas showed that the puck moves faster then any player can skate and connected on more than one goal for the Lady Patriots.

U8 at Iceworks Jamboree - September 25, 2021 Games 3&4

Our third game saw Meyers in net and Sprague and Strobel seemed to get a second wind after the break and skated and passed the puck tape-to-tape something that we practice weekly and Thomas, Sprague and Hartz's backchecking were relentless and they attitude of ""It's my puck and you can't have it"" was evident through the entire game. The Dynamites were a strong team but the Lady Patriots kept focused on winning the little battles and made it a back and forth game.

The forth game was a surprise when Pinchuk requested to play goalie when it was Plante's turn. Pinchuk stood tall in the net although she could not reach the crossbar she kept the puck out of the net and Richards foiled the cherry picker with her aggressive play to the puck, intercepting multiple attempt for get the puck to the awaiting opponent. This type of play enabled the Lady Patriots to have basically a man advantage since the cherry's were picked by Richards and then passed up to the offensive side of the ice where Plante, Thomas and Meyers took advantage of their puck skills and team work to put the puck past the goalie.

Once the final game was concluded the Lady Patriots got to meet the Gritty and some of the Flyers players during the meet and greet session coordinated by the Atlantic District as part of growing our love of the game.

U12AA at Valley Forge PW B National - September 25 2021

After struggling in the Maryland games two weeks ago the 12AA team talked about playing as a team to accomplish big things together. From the drop of the puck till the final buzzer they did just that with everyone getting on the score sheet with a goal or assist winning 11-3!

A dominating performance! A. Amato normally playing defense played wing and registered 3 assists! K. Wenhold registered a Hat trick!

S. Secules was very solid in goal today making some key saves shutting down any chances the Colonials tried to muster!

All players played a solid team game!

U12A vs Princeton Tigerlilies - September 25 2021

The 12A squad opened their season at home against the visiting Princeton Tiger Lilies. Despite having a short bench up front, the Lady Patriots skated well and played a fairly evenly matched game. The Tiger Lilies were relentless on defense holding the Lady Patriots to only 8 shots for the game.

Great defense was also shown on the Patriots side of the ice with great defensive plays and multiple rushes up ice made by the back four of E. Slobodrian, A. Richards, H. Meyers, and Q. Gorniak.

Goaltender M. Stahl made 18 saves on 21 shots and stopped some fantastic opportunities by the Tiger Lilies.

In the end the Tiger Lilies defense led to a 3-0 defeat for the Lady Patriots.

The 12A squad looks to get back in the mix with a game next Sunday against the visiting Jr Flyers.
