Short Summary of the book:

Meet John Locke, an American living in the UK who visits India. While visiting a Hindu Temple, he sees a young woman in a yellow sari and is immediately smitten. However, she disappears. He sees her again on the plane home, then again at a friend’s wedding.

Their romance appears doomed from the start and following a gruesome attack, he is left for dead and in a coma. Anjali nurses him back to health, but has the attack changed him forever and will John be able to lead a normal life?

What I liked about the book:

It was action-packed, filled with love and romance and many twists and turns.

What I didn’t like about the book:

The ending.

My favourite bits in the book:

The subtle ways in which Anjali showed her love for John.

My least favourite bits in the book:

There were none.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I definitely consider this one better than the first.

What books could this be compared to and why?

The book stands on its own and love, desperation and suicidal thoughts move through the book. This is a very rounded story.

Recommendation:

In summary, I would recommend this book to the following readers:

Children No

Young Adult Possibly

Adult Yes

If you like your books dark, but full of hope for the future, and full of twists and turns, this book may be the book for you.

I’m certainly looking forward to reading more by this author.

Book Description by Author:

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. And they can be right…

John Locke was an ordinary guy until he was left for dead at the bottom of a stagnant canal. Put in an induced coma, doctors worked to save his life using revolutionary medical therapies. And as John finally wakes to a room full of people he no longer recognises, it soon becomes apparent things have changed. Or, at least, John’s mind has changed. And it starts to develop in incredible and terrifying ways.

His one constant is Anjali; a beautiful devout Hindu who is to become his wife. She stays with him through everything for she has found her partner for life, her partner through the ages; her ardhangini.

But as John’s behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and violent, can Love really conquer all?
