Short Summary of the book:

Nicole’s childhood was not a happy one. Her parents never appeared interested in her or her sister and raised them with an iron fist. As a teenager, they dumped her with her sister Chloe and her husband. Her life seemed to take a positive turn then. However, life is never fair and heartache, unimaginable secrets lay ahead.

What I liked about the book:

This book was full of romance, secrets and heartache.

What I didn’t like about the book:

There were areas where the book would benefit from further editing, but I enjoyed the book.

My name is Nicole Marie Anderson. I was born in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada. My life has been quite the roller coaster ride. The best part of my childhood was my sister, Chloe. She made it better in many ways. We had a seventeen year difference, so she mostly took care of me. My parents weren't what you'd call loving. They provided well for us, but they never made us feel understood. Definitely didn't bother in supporting our hopes and dreams.

Chloe wanted to be a chef, but our parents just thought it was a waste of time. As I got older, I wanted to be a writer/English school teacher. Yep, they didn't like that choice either. They thought wanting to be a writer was a pipe dream going no where.

Our parents were more interested in their lives than ours. They worked hard to save money to be able to retire as young as possible. All their extra money went into their retirement fund. They didn't feel the need to save up to help pay for an education for either of us, since they didn’t agree with what we wanted to study.

I remember being more sad than happy growing up. All my happy memories were of my sister. Then when she married, I thought I was going to be all alone. Her husband, Jayden, made me feel welcome in their home anytime I wanted.

I didn't have many friends and had a zero interest in dating anyone. Until I met Chase Williams on my seventeenth birthday at a mutual party, we were both invited to. Looking back, it was love at first sight. Even though at the time my mind was pushing the happily ever after theory out the window. My heart was trying hard to open up, but the idea of having my heart broken scared me.

Chloe and Jayden had a rock hard solid marriage. They loved and respected each other. Jayden worked his ass off to provide for her and the twins they had a year and a half after their wedding. Lily and Logan were kind, loving, adorable kids. It showed they were being raised well.

I never imagined that my life would be filled with considerable amounts of love, lies and loss. Being heartbroken seemed never-ending from a young age. The bombshell hit eight months after my seventeenth birthday. I couldn't believe what was happening and certainly didn't know what the hell to do with all this information.
