Unless Some See a Miracle They Will Not Believe in Jesus
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
Without God, what would life be like?...We need God because He brings meaning, value, and purpose to life...It seems to me it is best to believe in God for these and many reasons...I have listened to many Christian and atheist debates and also God and atheist debates...Most atheists, as a general point, in my opinion, for them to believe in God -is to have God do a modern day miracle that they could see and believe (God's past miracles are not enough)...Then, by seeing this modern miracle, they could see and now would believe in God...The atheist needs this modern miracle, while the believer somehow manages (his belief in God) without it...The believer either sees or feels or somehow knows and believes that God exists, without this modern day miracle...Jesus told a group in Cana, where He had turned water into wine that unless some people see signs and miracles and wonders they will not believe...
To believe in God, the Bible teaches us that we must seek Him...He wants us to seek Him...Then He wants us to find Him...Pascal said God gives those who believe, just enough light to find Him...And not quite enough light, for those who do not believe Him, to find Him...
The main point for this author is that God changes my perspective on many of the most important things in my life, if the atheist is right and there is no God...To me, the atheist and the nonbeliever, their world is a little different (if not a lot more different), than for the believer...I think believers, and the more they believe, see God in more good things and working in their and others life...Or as St. Paul put it, in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)....
When we look at God's main attributes, we can better see these differences...What is Truth without God?...What is goodness, without God...What is faith without God?...And maybe most importantly what is Love, without God, because God is Love...Without God life has no meaning, no purpose, no value...We are just like the animal in the forest, trying only to survive and to get by...And for what...A life without meaning and purpose is not a life at all...
There are two views of truth...The first view that the Truth is absolute and real...The other view is that truth is relative, not absolute, and is not real...Believers who believe in Jesus, believe in the first view...Truth is more a black and white issue...Truth, is truth and it cannot be false...It is either truth or it is false...Two thousand years ago, He actually stood up, and said I AM Truth...Jesus and His Father are the examples of Absolute Truth...This Truth is the same yesterday, today, and forever...This Truth is eternal...
For those who take the second view of truth...Truth is how each of them see the truth...Truth is their truth...Truth is more relative, and in a way, more subjective, more tolerant...This type of truth is no absolute...Truth comes more through how they have been brought up and raised, their environment, and their own personal experiences...And the second view of truth is a changeable truth...
In trying to understand what Jesus teaches us about goodness...I believe Him, when He says that only God is good...God is our absolute moral example and way in life...If everyone were like His Son, there would be peace, not only because He is called Prince of Peace, but how He lives and what He teaches...One day, at the end of ages, peace will reign...
On explaining faith, what is faith if there is no God...What is life if there is no God...I think that you can have faith in family, friends, and others but in the end the problem with this world according to G. K. Chesterton is me...Man is evil...Man has a sinful nature...Our faith can be strong one day, but can wane the next...God alone is faithful...Man struggles with faith and his own goodness...Without God evil and goodness are of equal standing...And love and hate are randomly equal and have only evolved in man's thoughts if there is no God...
And on love, God is LOVE...Without God there would be no love...We love because God LOVED us first...This is how we learned to love, and where love comes from...Whoever claims to love God, will also love others because God is LOVE, and that is where love derived itself...God is where love comes from...
Without our LORD our God, life is a challenging thought...The truth is real, and the morality of God are real...Faith is as real as love, and both cannot be seen...When Jesus stood up two thousand years ago and said I AM the Truth, the Way, and the Life, it encompassed not only Truth, but faith, goodness, and love...Jesus is our Source for Truth...All these great things of truth, goodness, faith, and love -have their beginning and end in God...His is the Alpha and the Omega of all things including truth, mercy, goodness, faith, hope, and love...Without these things what is life?...Without God, what is Life?...
