1 Corinthians 2:9-16
Wisdom from the Spirit
9 However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"— 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:16
God's Spirit is Within Us
16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?
John 4:24
God is Spirit
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
John 14:16-17
God's Spirit Abides in Us
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
Matthew 1:23
Jesus is God With Us
23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
To say that the Holy Spirit is important to our faith is an understatement...Scripture tells us that the Spirit lives with us and abides in us...So, for believers, this makes man a Spiritual creature...So we need ways or a way to feel or see or hear or perceive or recognize the Holy Spirit more, since He lives with us and abides in us...I believe that is why Jesus' name is Immanuel, which means God with us...
But to complicate this matter, it is written that no eye has seen and no ear has heard and no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him...So it is very difficult to conceive God and the Holy Spirit, and our attempts of trying to define God and His attributes only in words is an impossibility...But still we try...And we do this by studying Him and reading about Him...And most of this knowledge of Him comes from the Bible...The original authors of the Bible did their best being inspired and guided by God to give us knowledge of Him through their writings...And so we learn about Him as He communicated to these authors, through His Spirit...And the original Old Testament manuscripts, Bibles and Scriptures were written in Hebrew...And the original Hebrew language and vocabulary did not contain a large amount of words...So we squint to see God...And we can only see through our own personal squinting-glimpses and see only some of the Light that shines from here to Eternity...And therefore, we see only small slices of the Eternal Living God...But that would seem to be quite normal for One who is, in fact, Eternal and Infinite...
The Great Saints and the Great Authors of the Bible books have dared to share their ideas about Him to others...Each one looking and squinting into the Light and telling us what they know about the Eternal and Infinite Wisdom concerning the Ancient of Days...God has revealed different things about Himself through the Bible, and that He is Spirit...And by His Spirit, He is revealed...And the Holy Spirit in us searches all things, even the deep things and deep mysteries of God...Who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's Spirit within his own self...And in the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God...One way we might hear God is by a calm and an inner voice that we hear in our minds...We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God...We may understand what God has freely given us, but sometimes we will not understand or feel the Spirit of God...This is why sometimes we need something more or other than words to know about Him...God goes beyond the wisdom of words...And beyond words there is the Holy Spirit...For some human wisdom is not always in words and in reason, but in a gentle calmness or a gentle feeling...The man without the Holy Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they can cannot feel or perceive the Holy Spirit...The Spiritual man goes beyond the wisdom of words and makes judgments about all things...The Spiritual man learns that there is more to wisdom than just the spoken word and the written word...
