1 John 4:16
God is LOVE
16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
John 10:30
Jesus and God are One
30 I and the Father are one.
John 16:7
The Counselor Will Be With Us
7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John 3:17
Jesus Was Not Sent to Condemn Us
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 4:29
Jesus Knows Us and Loves Us
27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
"Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"...The Samaritan woman knows she has stumbled on to something great, actually Someone Great...And His own disciples wonder why He is talking to a woman, yet alone this Samaritan woman...His Disciples have missed something that the Samaritan woman saw and felt very quickly...Something can be right beside us sometimes and we can miss it...The Disciples would learn later more about their Teacher, something the woman at the well picked up on rather quickly...She needed something, and He provided her the hope that He was in fact, the Messiah...She is the first in the Gospel of St. John to go out and to tell a group of people, a town, that she may know where the Messiah is...In her daily plight and troubles, He gives her this great hope...He never shamed or condemned this woman for her past and her current living situations...
When Jesus walked the earth He was constantly teaching His Disciples and us...Jesus teaches us that He and the Father are One...So when we know Jesus we know God...The mind of Jesus maybe the mind of His Father...The heart of Jesus maybe is the heart of His Father...When Jesus told His Disciples that it is good that He would soon have to go away, He makes a promise that we will not be alone...The Disciples would still be learning about Him the night of His arrest...He promises when He leaves to send us a Spirit, a Holy Spirit...The Holy Spirit has been called an Advocate, a Helper, a Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Life...Jesus, in the verses above, calls the Holy Spirit -a Counselor for us...The Counselor or Helper will always be with us and in us...Sometimes, I think, when we drift from God or do not have Him on our minds, or are off busy doing things God can wander from us...I think we can sort of drift and leave Him, and sometimes we do not even know it...And then when trouble arrives or we are faced with an adversity, we wonder where He is...He is probably where we last thought of Him or spoke to Him...
But the Counselor and Helper are there...God did not send His Son to us, because He needed to send Him off on a field trip...He sent His Son to us because we need Him...As we read the conversation between the Samaritan woman at the well and Jesus, we can feel her pain, we can see that she is ashamed and comes to the well not in the morning as the regular women do but avoids the crowd of people...She is not married...And through all her troubles, Jesus treats her as one wants to be treated...He treats her with dignity and as a friend and neighbor would treat her...He welcomes her into a conversation and friendly relationship with Him...And this is God...We are made in His image...And He wants to have a relationship with us...He wants us to converse with Him in prayer...He wants to be with us and in us with the Holy Spirit that He has sent us...
He still gives us great hope today...Some seem to see the Light quicker that others, who see the Light a little later...He does not come to us or is in us with the Holy Spirit to shame us or condemn us...God is Love...He sent Jesus to LOVE us...Jesus is Completely Forgiving...That is the nature of God...
