God is Spirit
24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 3:5
Born of the Spirit
5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
When we remember something about a person, event, or thing (in the past) that which we have in our memories, of that person, place, or thing -they are never fully lost...We all have (or will have) lost loved ones and friends...When we think of the memories of the ones we love, we smile a little, and think of the things we have done and shared in their lives...The little things in our lives, many times, are our best memories with our wives, families, and friends...These memories give us happy moments...
There are some memories which we have and want and try to forget...Those memories seem to come back out of the blue over and over again...Some of these types memories are more persistent in coming to mind...Some of these memories are not the pleasantness of ones...
Our memories are a part of us, and are more often than not a part of our regular lives, if not a part of our day...All the memories and experiences you have had in the past, has made you the person you are today...
But when we think about Jesus memories, it is much different...Jesus is a different Fellow...He is Divine and very unique...He speaks at His Last Supper, about when we eat each day, we are to remember Him...So whenever we set down, stand up, have something to eat, we are to remember Him...He is the Living Bread...He is the One who nourishes our soul...He is around and wants us to remember He has risen and is alive...
When He tells His disciples these things, He is not just telling them to remember Him and the past things He has done and what they have shared, like we do in our regular memories...He is saying I AM and will be a Spirit very soon...The story of His Life on earth is about to end, but (and this must always be remembered) He will return...He will resurrect and still be alive in Spirit...The memories of Him are different than the ones that come to your mind (about our family, friends, and pets) and make you smile...He is telling His disciples, that He will be alive, and He expects us to remember Him in a Spiritual Way, and that He is alive...That He is actually there with them after His death, because He will overcome death...His memory comes does come to life after they see Him resurrected...So His memory is so much different, than when we lose a family member and they pass on to Him...He wants an active relationship with Him and His Father, even though He is gone...He wants us to remember that He is the Living Son of the Living God...
Jesus teaches us that His past not only shapes our past lives, but our current lives in how we will live...He will continue to shape our future lives -as we remain in Him and know Him and His Father...His memory is the Way, the Truth, and our very Life...He is Life even today two thousand years after He ascended into heaven...He should be a part of our present moment(s), that we live in and a part of of how we live as He guides our lives...
