START SEATED IN A CIRCLE
If your personality were a fruit, what fruit would you be? Why?
Would you rather move like a cheetah or soar like an eagle? Why?
Can anyone name all the GOTR names?
Self-Talk is what you say to yourself, either in your head or out loud
Last weeks goal:
To practice finding our happy pace in running and life.
Today's goal is:
To challenge and change negative self-talk to positive self-talk to activate our Star Power!
You can do it!
You are good enough!
You are great they way you are!
I'm not good enough.
No one likes me.
I can't do this.
Circle up: We will read positive and negative self-talk statements.
When negative statements are read, we will get smaller.
When positive statements are read, we will get bigger.
"I'm so wierd. " "I am awesome!" "I know this is too hard for me." "I love myself." "I'm going to look silly." "I can never get it right." "I am strong." "I don't think they like me." "I can't keep trying." "There's no way I can do this." "What if people think my idea is stupid?" "I can keep trying." "I am unique and that rock!"
Our self-talk matters. Negative self-talk makes us feel small and afraid to activate our Star Power. Positive self-talk is a tool we can use to activate our Star Power and shine from the inside out."
In this activity, we will activate our Star Power by practicing positive self-talk. We'll think about our strengths and what we like about ourselves.
Journals: Page 5. Fill out each one.
Line up across from each other.
Next, do running arms in place until I say GO!
Run to the middle and read what you wrote for " I am most happy when..."
We will repeat this a few times.
Finish with Page 14 and draw or write one positive comment!
Add your lap goal.
Grab your necklace and put your journal away.
I will hand you a negative comment to think about and figure out how to turn it into a positive comment as you run!
"In our workout today, we will practice turning negative self-talk statements into positive ones. "
I will give you a negative statement. As you do a lap try to think of a way to turn it into a positive statement.
Think about it:
Next time you find yourself using negative talk, pause and turn it into POSITIVE talk!
Let's review a few that we created today!
Girls on the run is so much fun!
