• How can you help your team see value in parts of your community they might overlook or hold misconceptions about?

Today's big idea is OUR COMMUNITY SHINES! What do you think "Our Community Shines"  means? 

As a team, we are part of a community. We help each other and work together. We are also part of our larger community made up of different people, places, and things around us. Today, we are going to think about what it means to be part of a larger community. 

1. Place 4 cones in a large square with one in the center.

2. Set a poster at each cone with Hawthorne in the middle.

3. When the music stops, stop at a poster and add a person, place, or thing to the poster ... for example "garden" on the school poster. 

4. Once the music starts move to a different cone and write. 

This map represents some of the people, places, and things in our community.
