START SEATED IN A CIRCLE
Let's snap a team photo!
High, Low, Ha!
- Share a high or low and something that made you laugh so far this week!
To celebrate all parts of who I am.
To celebrate our diversity as a team and its strength.
Let's review our team agreement and GOTR names!
Going around the circle, say your GOTR name and make your move.
Can anyone name all the GOTR names?
Todays big idea is: What makes me, ME! There are many different aspects of who you are that make you, YOU: your role in your family, personality traits, things you like to do, your race, your gender, or your favorite foods, just to name a few. Together, these different parts make up who you are."
Journal page 2: My unique star
Review the questions and give examples
We will make a movement as a team then answer a question in the star and repeat.
We will share what we wrote, so make sure you write what you are comfortable sharing.
What is one of your hobbies? (10 Jacks)
What is one word you use to describe yourself? ( 30 sec - Running Arms)
What traditions do you celebrate? (30 sec Wacky Move)
What is your favorite food? (10 Star Jumping /Shooting Stars)
What makes you special? (30 sec Silly Dance)
(Meanwhile, set up 4 cones to section off an area for the next activity.)
Let's play a game to learn about what makes each of us unique.
With your journal, move/dance around until I shout out a number.. If I yell 3... get in groups of 3.
If someone is left out, invite them into your group.
I will then shout out a number 1-5 for which question and answer you will discuss in your group.
Did we write the same things in our stars?
What would it look like if we did?
When we bring our unique stars together, we show our diversity! Diversity is when there is a lot of variety or differences in a group, and is a positive word that shows the value of each person's background, talents, and uniqueness. Why is it a strength to have and celebrate diversity?
"In our workout, we will get to know each other a bit better by sharing more about ourselves."
Each lap, you will walk with someone different and complete the prompt. (hold the prompt up)
Example: "My GOTR name is Marvy Maestra, and if you really knew me, you would know that I love the beach and seeing the ocean. "
Today we learned to celebrate and share, "What makes me, ME" and what makes you, YOU! Find the word "Me" on your toolbox lock (page 14) and write or draw one thing that makes you UNIQUELY you."
One of our goals at Girls on the Run is taking what we learn in practice and using it at school, at home, and everywhere we go!
Each practice, you will have a goal to complete, once you have completed it, color it in.
Today's goal is:
Think about 1 thing that makes you, YOU! Add to your star.
Girls on the run is so much fun!
