START SEATED IN A CIRCLE
If you could rate your day on a scale of 1-100, with 1 being the worst and 100 being the best, what number would you give it and why?
What's a "would you rather" question you would like to ask the team?
Lead: Viva la Vivian
Can anyone name all the GOTR names?
Last week's goal: Peer Pressure
What do you know about choosing friends?
What qualities do you look for in a friend?
How are you a good friend?
What do you know about being friends with someone?
Have you ever had friends who made you feel bad about yourself or brought you down?
Why were you friends with them?
Today, we are going to explore the power we have to choose and be a friend who helps others' Star Power shine! "
You will each get a friendship quality slip
Keep the quality to yourself
When I say "GO" you will try to find the one person whose card matches yours as quickly as possible!
Once you find your match, you and your partner will come up with a simple motion or example that represents your friendship quality.
Knowing what qualities to look for in our friends can help us choose friends who help our Star Power shine and encourage us to be ourselves. We can also bring these qualities to our friendships to help others shine! (There are two sets, can do it twice if time allows ..each set has 10 total)
How can you choose friends at school and in your neighborhood who help your Star Power shine?
How can you be a friend who helps others' Star Power shine?
"Looking for good qualities in our friends is sort of like a scavenger hunt! In this next activity, we are going to do a friendship scavenger hunt. As we play, pay attention tothe friendship qualities you see in yourself and others."
We will pair up with each pair getting a scavenger hunt sheet
When finished come back to the circle.
What friendship qualities did you see in yourself during the scavenger hunt?
What friendship qualities did you see in others?
Check in with your Star Power.
How does it feel when you are with people who show some of these qualities?
During our workout today we will be practicing the Stop & Take a Breather strategy from last practice to help us choose friends who encourage us and help us shine.
A friend statement will be read
After hearing the statement, you will stop, breathe, think, and decide if the statement is ENCOURAGING OR DISCOURAGING
If the statement is encouraging you will go forward
If the statement is discouraging you will go backward
Think about it: Friendship
Today, we learned one tool we use to help others' Star Power Shine is Friendship!
Girls on the run is so much fun!
