Description:
From the same research project responsible for Metathralsians came J-1, another lucrative bio-engineering project based on the same planet. Little is known about the method responsible for J-1's creation, except that similar use of marrite magic played a key role in shaping the being's physique. Genetic material from an ancient domesticated dog of the pitbull variety by the name of "Princess" was also introduced into the creature. Designed as either a heavy calvary mount or a work animal, J-1 stood at over 13 feet tall and weighed several tons. The beast's form was modeled after a goat, specifically an Old Terran variety scientifically known as Myotragus Batei, resulting in the inheritance of a pair of long horns that extended the creature's height by six more inches.
J-1 was nicknamed "The Loud One" for its deafening screeches (up to 170 decibels) it would produce and sustain for as long as 3 minutes when exposed to light, likely a result of hypersensitivity engineered into the being to navigate in low light areas. The psychological impact upon researchers was said to be significant, with tests often being inconclusive due to premature aborting of procedures. J-1 was also extremely difficult to contain, with a costly chamber composed of three layers of various tungsten alloys and depleted uranium specifically constructed for the animal. Containment breaches were frequent and deadly, and multiple attempts to kill or cripple J-1 were put into place, utilizing all of the following:
Prolonged vacuum exposure
Use of toxic gasses such as carbon monoxide, mustard gas, and arsine.
Use of concentrated artillery fire upon its vital organs
Burning
Controlled nuclear explosions
Esteemed boxer "Contact Mike", high on steroids and super-cocaine
Only the last two methods proved even somewhat effective, though J-1 recovered from its injuries within hours. As a result, J-1 was released onto the uninhabited dwarf planet Eramius IV, which was subsequently and rigorously bombed. Satellite observations showed that J-1 survived the bombardment, much to the dismay of all. To this day, Eramius IV is off-limits for surface missions, the punishment of which traditionally consists of letting violators land on the dwarf planet and learn the hard way why landing is a bad idea. It is unknown how J-1 sustains itself on Eramius IV.
