The Isoterian System is a star system just beyond the northernmost extremity of the Gergosphere. It is currently not claimed by any major power (save for the Hagbeadi), but was an important refueling stop in the High Clementinan Khaganate during its conquests in the Galactic North. The system was liberated by local militias with Milnilchlanese aid, a process that resulted in the destruction of most information regarding Clementinan built infrastructure. Since then, the system has fallen into a state of disrepair as its infrastructure degrades, further accelerated by Hagbeadi incursions. A ceasefire was declared in 4585 when Hagbeadi forces lost interest in the system, settling for the moons of gas giant Isoteria V, which they continue to occupy to this day. Isoteria I has not been landed on in its known history due to a minor Jell portal on the surface and its proximity to its star.
The three significantly inhabited bodies in the Isoterian System are Isoteria II ("Multon"), Isoteria III ("Hybonon"), and the latter's sole moon, Nesm. Minor populations of researchers and dwarves dwell on Isoteria IV, and the Hagbeadi-occupied moons of Isoteria V are excluded from the system census. Most Isoterian life forms are related to life forms found on post-Terran worlds, suggesting the system was colonized at some point. Futher evidence to this includes the local culture, which is a mix of Gergitorian and Makoban origins. The exact history of the system is unclear, however, as few writings from before Clementinan occupation exist.
The elite upper class of Isoteria live in an isolated community on Multon known as "Multonland", which encompasses roughly 2.9 million square miles on the planet's south pole. This region is artificially climate controlled and highly prosperous, which sets it apart from the rest of Multon, a desert world with little water. Most its lower class inhabitants live in massive industrial structures situated by crowded oases near Multonland and the north pole. Multon has a population of roughly 40,000,000, a quarter of whom live in Multonland.
Contrarily, Hybonon is a very humid and densely populated world, characterized by massive fern jungles and even larger derelict urban areas. A runoff greenhouse effect paired with high humidity and high pollution makes Hybonon a miserable place to live. A notable concentration of sulfuric acid exists in the atmosphere, often precipitating in acid rain that runs off into the planet's "great acid ocean". The presence of sulfuric acid also casts a famous yellow haze across Hybonon. The local population has adapted to the acid, though gas masks and goggles are required for visitors. Large chunks of the population also dwell underground in sprawling sewer cities, considered to be a luxury vacation destination for rats and a hellish existence for other sophonts. Since most the 600,000,000-strong population of Hybonon cannot afford air or space travel, the primary method of transportation in and between communities is by regular sewage canal barge service. Travel by foot is not recommended due to the dangerous presence of endemic "Lemon Beetles", carnivorous beasts that dwell in acid swamps and ambush unsuspecting victims.
The remainder of the Isoterian population lives on the moon Nesm, a barren rocky world with no atmosphere or liquid water. Its population lives in underground communities similar to Hybononian sewer cities, with sewer canals used to travel between population centers. Despite the precarious living conditions, residents of Nesm exhibit a great pride to their moon, likely a cultural artifact left behind from Clementinan nationalism. It is a common saying there that "Nesm is likely better than you". Most the moon's population consists of dwarves and rats, who grow the economy via mining and provide electricity with massive fields of solar panels on the moon's surface. When the moon is eclipsed by Hybonon, work is typically halted except to maintain the solar panels and to launch large quantities of trash and waste to the surface of Hybonon in a ritual locally known as "paying tribute".
