The event, held between the 17th and 18th of April 2024, brought together participants from Poland, Slovenia, Serbia, and Turkey to explore the integration of STEAM education with culinary arts, transforming kitchens into laboratories where various disciplines merge with a passion for food. We began by analyzing national dishes, linking emotions and stories to create innovative teaching plans. Visiting the Copper Smiths Bazaar connected us with Gaziantep's rich history and culture, enhancing our appreciation for the city's heritage.
A highlight of the event was the workshop at the Culinary Museum, where hands-on cooking sessions deepened our skills and emotional connection with food. This workshop showcased Gaziantep as a hub of Turkish cuisine and demonstrated the potential of combining STEAM and culinary arts in education.
On the second day, participants developed a training methodology for teachers to integrate STEAM education with culinary arts using interactive tools. The goal was to create engaging and inspiring educational materials. We visited the Zeugma Museum to admire Roman mosaics, deepening the participants’ understanding of Gaziantep's cultural foundations.
The event concluded with a cooking workshop at Gasmek, where participants learned traditional Gaziantep recipes and techniques. This experience illustrated how traditional cuisine can enrich educational programs, blending tradition with innovation and education with discovery.
