The student-led art show held at the Lighthouse during the wine walk on November 9th was a huge success! This was the very first student art show led by Madelyn Brewer, Emma Maltbie, Abbie Teegerstrom, Hannah Stiver, and Kaia Orth. There were many artworks from all high school students included in the art show. Varieties of snacks were available, including cookies, hot chocolate, apple cider, tea, water, and other beverages to offer visitors. Thank you to Mrs. Shrauner for giving the students this opportunity to show off the artwork EHS students worked so hard on!
The Doric Theatre in Elkhart, Kansas will be showing the following films next week:
Lee, showing November 20th and 21st. In this show, the actress Kate Winslet will be playing the role of Lee Miller, a fashion model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II. The film shows how Miller lived her life in search of the truth, for which she paid an enormous personal price, forcing her to confront a traumatic and deeply buried secret from her childhood. The next movie, Venom: The Last Dance, showing November 22nd and 23rd. In this film, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s biggest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Chased across their two worlds with the grid closing in, the duo is forced to make a decision which will bring down the curtain on Venom and Eddie’s final dance. Thanksgiving is almost here! The Doric movie theater will be closed on November 27th through the 30th.
Braxon Nairn, a senior in high school, goes to the gym with his dad for fun. His greatest accomplishment is going to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete in national powerlifting. His motivation comes from wanting to make his parents proud and have them support him. He wants to go to college at Hutch University, to become a physical therapist. His favorite subject in school is strength. If he could vacation anywhere in the world, he wants to travel to Hawaii.
Mrs. Cindy McCabe has been in our high school office, quote, “for a good while,” and has done so much for the students and our district. Before coming to the high school office, she owned a daycare. She wanted to be closer to her kids though, so she made the switch to the high school, it was like she was still working at her daycare. The word “retire” made her laugh and respond, “The warden will never quit, ‘till the day I die.” Mrs. Cindy, we are so thankful for everything you do for the students at EHS.
Photo-ops in the lobby and snacks will be on sale; Grape soda cupcakes, Dirt n’ Worms and other items soon to be revealed to the public. Tickets will be for sale in the lobby, $3 for students and $6 for adults. The play will be showing November 15-16th at the Elkhart High School Auditorium, starting at 7:30 PM. Viewer discretion: flashing lights / epilepsy warning (strobe lights). The flats were painted by Mrs. Shrauner and a few of her art students. Special thanks and HUGE shoutout to Seward County Community College for the props & costumes.
