On March 31st, the Elkhart Wildcats played Bucklin at home, winning both games with scores of 8-7 and 11-1. On Thursday April 3rd, the Wildcats traveled to face the Hugoton Eagles. The Elkhart Wildcats took both wins, 3-2 and 8-2. Currently, the Wildcats have a 7-0 record.
The Elkhart Lady Wildcats had a game on Tuesday, April 8th, in Sublette and unfortunately got run ruled. They faced the Spearville Lancers, unfortunately falling short both games.
The Elkhart Wildcats began their 2025 track season on Tuesday at Johnson, facing off against 12 teams, including all of their league opponents. Though the competition was fierce, the Wildcats showed their strength with standout performances from Baylor Childress and Carlos DeHerrera. Baylor impressed by earning second place in both shot put and discus, while Carlos demonstrated his all-around talent with a 6th place finish in the 1600m and a 4th place finish in high jump. Their contributions were crucial in securing points for the team, giving the Wildcats a strong start to what promises to be an exciting season.
This week the Doric Cinema will be showing the following films. Rule Breakers will be showing on April 11th and 12th. The film is about a nation where educating girls was considered rebellion. A visionary woman dares to teach young minds to dream. Her success sparks hope and opposition when her innovation attracts worldwide attention. In the face of imminent threats, her courage fuels a movement. Black Bag will be shown on April 16th and 17th. This film is about an agent who, when his beloved wife, Kathryn is suspected of betraying the nation, faces the ultimate test: loyalty to his marriage or his country.
This week’s male Senior Spotlight is Tristin Rich. Tristin’s favorite teacher throughout his high school career has been Mrs. Otto-Siemens. His favorite class he’s taken is Journalism & Broadcasting. I asked his favorite high school moment and he said he doesn’t have one. He also said he has no plans after high school. His favorite school year has been his senior year.
Monday, April 7th, there was High School Varsity Golf against Garden City, and JV Baseball against Hugoton. On Tuesday, April 8th, there was Math State Testing, an NHS Meeting, track against Johnson, baseball against Sublette and softball against Sublette. On Wednesday the 9th, there was Math testing again, HPL Art in Johnson, and Large Group Band Competition all day. On Thursday the 10th, there was Pre-State track, JV Golf against Lakin, and softball against Hugoton. On Friday the 11th, there is Pre-State Track, SCCC enrollment during homeroom, along with Drivers Ed Eye Exam/Handbook review at 5:00 PM in the EHS Library. On Saturday the 12th, there will be a Drivers Ed handbook test at 9:30 AM in the EHS Library and Prom at 7:00 PM at the Civic Center. Looking ahead, on Monday the 14th, there is going to be a track meet at Sublette, golf is headed to Lakin, and a BOE meeting. On Tuesday the 14th, baseball and softball are facing Lakin, and there will be JV Golf. On Wednesday the 16th, there will be a FHSU Art Day at State YEC. On Thursday the 17th, there is State YEC and Glenn Cunningham Relays. Friday April 18th and Monday the 21st there will be no school for Easter break.
