On Tuesday, February 18th, the Lady Wildcats took the hard loss against the Southwestern Mustangs on their home floor for their senior night. The Lady Wildcats fought a tough battle playing a very competitive Southwestern Mustangs team, losing 13-63 as their last game. They played their hearts out until the very end, and giving up was not in their mindset! The Lady Wildcats will compete in regionals against the Meade Buffaloes Monday February 24th.
On Monday, February 24th the Lady Wildcats traveled to Meade and unfortunately took the tough loss against the Meade Buffaloes, competing in regionals. The Meade Buffaloes put up a tough battle, causing the Lady Wildcats to lose 30-49. This game completed the season for the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats ended their season with a record of 5-15.
The Elkhart Wildcats faced off against the Spearville Lancers for the first time since 2017 in the first round of substate Tuesday. Sadly, the Wildcats came up short losing 65-45. This loss ended the Wildcats' season with a record of 7-14. This is the third year in a row the Wildcats have finished 7-14. The fans, players, and coaches all hope for a more successful season next year.
This week's senior spotlight focuses on Isaiah Alverado. He said his favorite teacher is Mr. Iman. When it comes to his favorite class, he would say Geography. After high school, he plans to go to WSU and look into engineering. His favorite sport during his high school career would be track. His favorite school year during high school was his sophomore year.
This week's teacher spotlight is Mrs. Holly Villa. Mrs. Holly has been living in Elkhart for about 6 years. She moved away for a while, but came back in 2019. Mrs. Holly started as a para, then became a teacher. She enjoyed being around the kids and decided she wanted to teach them. She works with the special education classes and enjoys every bit of it. She has been teaching for 6 years and plans to teach until she is ready to retire. She said out of all the memories she has had teaching her favorite is, "the relationships I have built with the kids I have taught."

Garret H. and Taylor M. qualified for the honor band this week and will perform with other band students from around the state on 3/1 at 2pm. Great work Garrett and Taylor!
RESIST students will be attending advocacy day at the capitol next week. Proud of all their chapter is doing for our students and community.
