As we quickly approach the holidays, the Doric Theater will present its last 2 movies for 2024. The first movie will be "Red One," on December 13th and 14th, which is about Santa being kidnapped and the North Pole police contacting a hacker in order to get Santa back and save Christmas. The second movie to end the year will be "Gladiator II," on December 21st and 22nd. This movie begins after Lucius' home was conquered by the emperors and he is forced to enter the coliseum and recap things from his past to find the strength he will need to return glory to Rome. These are the last movies showing for the remainder of 2024 because the Doric Theater will be closed for Christmas and New Years.

The Elkhart High School cheerleaders have been working very hard on their Christmas cheer dance they will perform on December 17th in the New Gym at half time of the boys' basketball game. Be sure to come support the cheerleaders, they have worked very hard on this new dance!
Everyone is welcome to go to the art room and grab a light bulb out of the envelope on the bulletin board to write someone's name along with something nice they have done for you. Give the light bulb to Mrs. Shrauner and she will put it on the Christmas tree to give credit to those doing nice things for people. If you do not have time to go to the art room during one of your classes, you can always go between classes or before / after school.
Kristian Quigely, a student at Elkhart High School, says one thing he will miss the most about high school after graduation are the people. He gave some advice to his underclassmen, “Think before you speak.” After high school, he plans to get into U Chicago to study law. He balances school, work, and his job by, “Choosing what is closest to his heart and putting that first.” If he could switch places with anyone for a day it would be John Cena.
This past week at Elkhart High School, our basketball teams had their season openers Tuesday against Syracuse. On Wednesday, SCCC FAFSA Night will be for all seniors. On Thursday, Reality U was conducted with Mrs. Bashford. Friday, the Wildcats will travel to Syracuse for a Border Wars Basketball game. On Saturday, Border Wars will continue in Syracuse. Congratulations to Rylee on participating in the Honor Choir on December 8th! Wildcat students, class changes are starting; remember, only one change allowed per student. On December 17th, there will be a Student Council silent auction. Looking ahead to December 17th, there will be a basketball game against Goodwell at home.
The annual coffee cup design challenge is a collaboration between the EHS Art classes, Wildcat Creations, and Higher-Grounds Cofeehouse. A project-based lesson which allows the students to essentially work as freelance designers creating a winter sticker design for Higher Grounds Coffeehouse.
Each student creates a winter wonderland-themed sticker. Once the design is completed, Eva Knelson, owner of Higher Grounds, will choose 6 finalists whose designs she thought worked cohesively with her business. From the 6 designs, she narrows it down to only three. The three winners' designs will be printed in bulk by Wildcat Creations and featured on hot and cold coffee cups next week. In addition to having their artwork published, all finalists will receive two coffee mugs in which their designs are printed.
The stickers will be featured on all of Higher Grounds hot and cold cups on December 17th, 18th, and 19th. One design will be featured each day!!
Tuesday, December 10th, Elkhart High School attended Border Wars in Syracuse. Our boys played a long, tough game and came out victorious. The final score was 68-55. The Lady Cats fought a tough battle as well, falling short 18-30. Come show your support for the Wildcats and Lady Cats Friday the 13th for the next Border Wars game in Syracuse. JV will start at 9:00 AM and varsity plays at 3:00 PM. LETS GO CATS!
Last Friday, the Elkhart Wildcats played against the Wichita County Indians at home. The Wildcats won the game 44-37. Starting their season off with a win! The Lady Cats fought a tough battle playing a very competitive Lady Indians team. This week both teams travel to Syracuse on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday for the Border Wars games. The Lady Cats and Wildcats already played their Tuesday game against the Las Animas Trojans. The Wildcats came out on top and the Lady Cats fought until the end of the game unfortunately losing to the Trojans. The Wildcats have started the season off as 2-0 and look to keep the momentum going into Friday. The Lady Cats have high hopes headed into Friday's game.
