EDIT 763 Tools for K-12 Online Learning
Spring 2017
“We shape our tools, and thereafter, they shape us.”
-Culkin, J. M., 1967
Welcome to 763! In this course, we will explore various educational technologies viewing their affordances and constraints on our teaching and learning. We will develop an expert's eye for judging the impact of these technologies as we hone our understanding of important educational technology frameworks. In addition, we will roll-up our sleeves to engage in a bit of DIY to create multimedia pieces we implement in our own classrooms. Importantly, we will practice curiosity and reflection as we consider our own attitudes surrounding technology and observe tech trends from a 30,000' view -- and how they "shape us."
This is an asynchronous course. Although there are weekly deadlines, you may move through the materials at your own pace. This course has been developed in conjunction with EDIT 767 so that many of the projects you complete for this course will serve a dual purpose. When possible, you should construct your projects with 767 in mind.
