SUMMARY
This movie is a psychological thriller and suspense film. The story revolves around Dr. Robert Ledgard, a prestigious plastic surgeon who, after the tragic death of his wife and his daughter’s suicide, becomes obsessed with creating a synthetic skin resistant to fire and any form of aggression. In his mansion-laboratory, he keeps Vera captive, a mysterious woman who appears to be the focus of his experiments.
Throughout the film, it is revealed that Vera is actually Vicente, a young man whom Robert kidnaped years earlier after blaming him for his daughter’s misfortune. Robert subjected him to sex reassignment surgery against his will, physically transforming him into a woman and molding him according to his obsession.
The plot explores themes of identity, revenge, obsession, and control, with disturbing twists that lead to a tragic and surprising ending.

Esta pelicula es un thriller psicológico y de suspenso. La historia gira en torno al Dr. Robert Ledgard, un prestigioso cirujano plástico que, tras la muerte trágica de su esposa y el suicidio de su hija, se obsesiona con crear una piel sintética resistente al fuego y a cualquier agresión. En su mansión-laboratorio mantiene cautiva a Vera, una misteriosa mujer que parece ser el centro de sus experimentos.
A lo largo de la película se revela que Vera en realidad es Vicente, un joven al que Robert secuestró años atrás después de culparlo de la desgracia de su hija. Robert lo sometió a una cirugía de reasignación de sexo contra su voluntad, transformándolo físicamente en mujer y moldeándolo según su obsesión.
La trama explora temas de identidad, venganza, obsesión y control, con giros perturbadores que llevan a un desenlace trágico y sorprendente.
DEI PERSPECTIVE
The film questions how power, control, and social norms influence personal identity and respect for bodily autonomy. From a DEI perspective, it becomes evident how a lack of respect for diversity and the absence of equity and inclusion can lead to serious abuses, such as denying the right to decide on one’s own identity and body.
PERSPECTIVA DEI
La película cuestiona la manera en que el poder, el control y las normas sociales influyen en la identidad personal y en el respeto hacia la autonomía del cuerpo. Desde la perspectiva DEI, se evidencia cómo la falta de respeto a la diversidad y la ausencia de equidad e inclusión pueden llevar a abusos graves, como la negación del derecho a decidir sobre la propia identidad y cuerpo.
DIVERSITY: The film exposes the complexity of gender identities and how they don’t always fit into traditional categories. However, instead of being celebrated or respected, diversity is erased by Dr. Ledgard’s control, as he transforms Vicente into “Vera” without consent, denying the richness of human identities.
DIVERSIDAD: La cinta expone la complejidad de las identidades de género y cómo estas no siempre se ajustan a categorías tradicionales. Sin embargo, en lugar de celebrarse o respetarse, la diversidad es borrada por el control del doctor Ledgard, quien transforma a Vicente en “Vera” sin consentimiento, negando la riqueza de las identidades humanas.
EQUITY: The power dynamic is deeply unequal. Ledgard exerts absolute control, using science and his social position to impose his will. From an equity perspective, the film shows a total absence of justice and balance, as the victim is stripped of the ability to decide her own fate and power dynamics are perpetuated.
EQUIDAD: La relación de poder es profundamente desigual. Ledgard ejerce control absoluto, utilizando la ciencia y su posición social para imponer su voluntad. Desde un enfoque de equidad, la película muestra la ausencia total de justicia y equilibrio, ya que se le arrebata a la víctima la posibilidad de decidir sobre su propio destino y se perpetúan dinámicas de dominación.
INCLUSION: Inclusion is conspicuously absent. Vicente/Vera is not recognized, respected, or accepted for who they truly are. Instead of being supported in their identity and dignity, they are forced to fit into an imposed mold. The film denounces what happens when a person is denied their fundamental right to be who they are and to live in a community that respects them.
INCLUSIÓN: La inclusión brilla por su ausencia. Vicente/Vera no es reconocido, respetado ni aceptado por quien realmente es. En vez de ser acompañado en su identidad y dignidad, es forzado a encajar en una forma impuesta. El filme denuncia lo que ocurre cuando una persona es excluida de su derecho fundamental a ser quien es y a vivir en una comunidad que lo respete.

MY PERSONAL REFLECTION AND HOW IT REFLECTS DEI
As a woman, I believe the film exposes what happens when our bodies and identities are controlled by others. It makes me think about how, historically, women have been reduced to objects of desire, shaped by external expectations, and deprived of autonomy over our decisions. It reminds me of the importance of defending the diversity of female identities, demanding equality in power relations, and promoting the recognition and respect of every woman for who she is, without impositions or violence. No external force should deprive any human being of their right to have a voice and their own identity.
MI REFLEXIÓN PERSONAL Y COMO REFLEJA DEI
Como mujer, considero que la pelicula expone lo que sucede cuando nuestro cuerpo y nuestra identidad son controlados por otros. Me hace pensar en cómo históricamente las mujeres hemos sido reducidas a objetos de deseo, moldeadas según expectativas externas y privadas de autonomía sobre nuestras decisiones. Me recuerda la importancia de defender la diversidad de identidades femeninas, de exigir igualdas en las relaciones de poder y de promover que cada mujer pueda ser reconocida y respetada por quien es, sin imposiciones ni violencias. Ninguna fuerza externa deberia arrebatar a ningun ser humano su derecho a tener voz e identidad propia.
