Class of 2022 CAS Final Reflection and Celebration

FINAL CAS REFLECTION

After studying in the IB program for 2 years, I found that the CAS activity really helped me on changing my mindset from a high school student to an adult, it makes me reexamine every decision that I've made in my daily life, to truly understand the and explored the meaning behind it, also, The CAS activity forced me to step out of the comfort zone to face the challenges and frustration that I've never faced before, such as learning new skills, or trying to adapt in a brand new environment that I've never been to before, and all of these, I need to do it by myself without any others assistance .

Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

As a student that chose double sciences as my main courses of the IB, my senses of art are terrifying compared to other people, sometimes I can't identify which kind of pieces are aesthetically appealing and which is not, so enhance my weakness I decided to attend some Cas experience that requires the art skills and the ability to determine what kind of pieces have fit the standard of beauty, so I choose the sketching activity and the Sseusical activity, sketching helps me to improve my skills on creating art, and Sseusical preparations. and during those activities I learned a lot from my crews and teacher and now my srt skills are better than before, making my original weakness into a strength.

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

the CAS activity, requires us to do an activity that fulfilled the 3 goals, creativity, activity, and services, which is kind of boring if I do activities that I usually, do so I decided to choose some activity that I've never done before, and one of the examples is beatboxing, beatboxing is a kind of skills that utilize your mouth as an instrument, generates several different kinds of sound to create beat or music. This kind of music form isn't popular as other kinds of music such as singing or dancing, so I'm hesitant about performing this kind of talent on the Kuei Shan School talent show, plus I'm a shy person, but I still try to step out the comfort zone the through the barriers that I set for myself

Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

If the CAS activity is not school-based, then it is hard to consistently make sure that my CAS always keep on track, and one of my CAS activity, a traditional Chinese internship, help me develop the skill of planning and negotiating with the boss in the shop, although we already know each other I still need to take this seriously. because I'm not a regular employee so I 'don't need to punch in the time clock, which means that I don't actually need to come in a specific time, but for a CAS activity it is not really an ideal thing to do, so I decide to make a time chart while keeping my work time in a certain width, and this makes me have the time to balance my other kind of work, most importantly, the regular employee in the shop will treat my fairly and willing to teach me more about traditional Chinese medicine since I take the whole internships seriously

Demonstrate the skills & recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

For this aspect, I think that the basketball TISSA really fits this one, first of all, basketball is a type of exercise that need everyone to cooperate with each other frequently in order to break the defense of the enemy team, also, me, coach, and my teammate have developed several kinds of code and chant to shortens the time of communication, and once we familiar each others playstyle, I can support each teammate during attack and defense

Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Global warming is always an issue, and to solve this problem I decided to do some CAS activity that's is related to plants, since it is a significant factor that can enhance the problem of global warming, I want to know how the plants will perform when they aren't in a healthy state, and based on the features that it shows to alternate the environment that it grows in, so I decided to start in school. Kuei Shan is a school that is full of different kinds of trees, which is a very good place to learn about a variety of forms of the plant. and during that CAS activity, I found that it is hard to manage the health of the banana tree because it is very easily rotten and the rotten root will spread out and affect the banana tree that is around the rotten roots. and this indirectly know the difficulties of sustaining the gree trees and plant to balancing the density of carbon dioxide

Recognize & consider the ethics of choices & actions

this aspect is the aspect I do not often encounter during the CAS activity, the only activity that matched is the Tissa activity, I need to make different kinds of decisions on the ways of defense to solve the attack that the opponent team is doing, and at the same time I need to control my temper to make the team cooperation better, or else the team won't have the mood the do conversation with each other, and some times I'm thinking of intentionally letting the opponent's starter getting hurt to make our team win, but it is unethical and lack of sportsmanship so I quickly cancel this kind of winning method.
