Although CAS reflections might be annoying, the CAS activities itself isn't, in fact, I enjoy most of the CAS activities, as it makes me knows more about how many peoples need help. From some of my service activities, I also notice some crucial situations in the environment. After all, we started CAS for all my DP experience, after reviewing every activity, I just realize how much I've been through, and I'm really thankful for these activities, and now let me show you my CAS experience.
Before I started hosting the talent show, I felt scared, as an introverted person, I thought I couldn't do jobs that stand in front of audiences, I've decided to challenge myself and join them to host the show, so I've teamed up with Kyle and start preparing the talent show hosting. The reasoning behind this is because I wish to grow, so I tried my best to host an event without causing too many awkwardness
In the competition, the individual medley is always a big challenge for me, since I'll need to maintain speed, while being able to do every stroke by myself, not only that it requires lots of practice, but it also requires stamina, and my stamina is far not enough for long range competitions. While practicing, I develop my skills and techniques on every stroke, improving on my weak point backstroke, and trying to get my speed up to a certain level throughout the way.
From one of the activities, we went to Tamsui to clean up trash, and help out the environment, so after the first time, we noticed some of the things that need attention, the locations, and the weather really matters for an event like this. Therefore, we plan out the route based on where we know will have more people, also each time going there, we do some fine-tuning of our routine base on the situations we're facing.
Practicing martial art reminds me of the swimming practice, since it has about the same synergy. It's been a while since I last started with some tiring activities. During the practice, there are some major problems that I faced, which is the technical part of the martial arts, since I had never learned things like that, it was hard for me to know every position for martial arts, because the teacher can't stop the class just for one new student, in which I will need to catch up around 5~6 weeks of content. But eventually, I overcome this challenge and show my commitment and perseverance.
Playing accompaniment always not my best, in fact, before this event, I never played piano as accompaniment, I always perform as a solo piano player, and this is the first time I've ever tried to do things like this. After all, I'm glad that I did this activities, not only because it's with my friends, it's also because it lets me practice playing piano accompaniment, not every day can have this chance to practice with others. This makes me realize that everything needs to cooperate with others again, one person could be good, but more people can do better.
After the CAS activities, we felt that although we cleaned up some places, it's still way far off to make a dent in the current environmental situation, we need the whole community to take action, luckily, we meet a teacher from the schools that chat with us and takes photos, and he said he's going to show that to their school, we agreed because it's a good chance to spread this message around the community. In the end, climate change is still a Global issue.
In one of my activities when we help cleaning up Tamsui old street, the government that is responsible for cleaning believed that the trash we pick up is household garbage that we brought, they did not admit the incomplete cleaning of the covered area, which made us unable to drop our trash into the huge public trash can on Tamsui street. I felt that's just really unreasonable, and I felt sad about how they thought they cleaned up 100% of the place already, yet there are still way too many places that are left behind. This really challenges my ethical choice, as people who help clean up should be able to throw the trash into the trash can. We also felt me everyone should be responsible for the environment.
