FINAL CAS REFLECTION
Over the two years of my IB diploma, I have expanded my vision and at the same time made some memorable memories from doing CAS, I have experienced some activities that may or may not choose to do if CAS did not exist. And I think these activities have helped me grow a lot as a person, I think CAS made me more open to trying on new things, and more often would I be capable of voluntarily becoming the leader to lead projects. During CAS I have played different roles in teams and met various people who changed how I view the world.
Strength & growth
Throughout the whole CAS experience, I developed the most in strength and growth. An example for this could be teaching others how to train, I recognize that I have strength in having knowledge on training more than my peers however I wanted to further develop this skill, thus I understand that in order for me to improve to move forward towards becoming a personal trainer, I would need more practice, and sharing knowledge is a good way to take the knowledge I know already in practice, it also benefits me to get a brief understanding on how or how not to teach to be effective.
Challenge & skills
Thorugh out my CAS experience, many challenges are presented, and we should always try to put the effort in to overcome the challenges presented in front of us, as we experience from the mistakes we make we start to make improvements, and grow to make fewer similar mistakes I find that most major challenges come when I am working with a group, as a group can be very uncoordinated sometimes also I find that patience to be very important to overcome problems, as sometimes situations can get better over time. Another thing is that from CAS I find myself to be more prone to try new things such as Seussical or learning 3D printer, I find myself to me motivated to be open to explore topics that I do not know before.
Initiative & planning
A lot of the CAS experience is self-motivated as we plan out our own CAS experience we also need to have consistency to progressively finish the goal we set out to be by ourselves, and I think I have achieved this outcome through all of the big projects such as sports day referee, suessical and teaching others how to train. I often find myself being able to reach out and help organize and volunteer on sports-related topics, also I find myself to be able to plan out a well training and diet plan or suggestions for my peers in order for them to also reach their goals.
Working collaboratively with others
Throughout my CAS experience, I have worked with various of group's the one that I remembered the most is the one we spent the most time with, together thinking of solutions to problems that are often too complicated for one individual to take care of, and during this CAS experience it truly taught me how important teamwork is in a project that we all share a part in, as it is crucial for anyone of us in this group to contribute because it can cause our progress to lack behind, fortunately, everyone did their part and we did well at last.
Showing perseverance and commitment
Training Harry
I think I did not do well on this learning outcome, as I do show some commitment in some of the CAS experiences, I find that only the ones I enjoy or the ones that are simple that I will truly have a commitment towards, such as sports day referee, teaching how to train, pushing for higher 1 rep max on the bench press and music Suessical, those I find too time-consuming and not really beneficial would usually be done in a perfunctory way. An example of this would be the 3D printer CAS, I did not reach my goal in particular however I did finish watching and practicing using blender app, however, honestly, I do think that I could have put more effort into this experience.
Global engagement
Home training (pull ups)
In order to complete this learning outcome, I engaged with the topic that is currently occurring which is COVID-19 and I eventually come up with an idea to give myself a goal during the covid lockdown to not lose gain that I worked hard for in the past and learn something new, in this case, I learned how to do simple calisthenics and I am still working on doing an actually full planche which I am halfway there currently. I also encourage my peers to do the same during the lockdown, to not give up on the progress that was made, instead work on what is remain, and try to maintain the progress so we do not have to start over again.
Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
This is a rare learning outcome that I don't normally run across of this is because there is really not a lot of case where I need to make decisions that could have a major ethical issue, the ones that I made is almost always reasonable, a major ethical issue I remember is just the sports day event and myself teaching others, as sometimes we need to make decisions that can cause consequences, thus when we pick our options we must value the benefits and cost from that option.
