Throughout my Highschool life, CAS projects and experiences take up a big proportion of my leisure. As a requirement of our educational program, it accompanied me as I grew and learned from them. Many would consider this to be an assignment like extra subject that we are required to burden ourselves with, however, it had already became a way of our lives. Without CAS, we wouldn’t obtain extra skillsets and experiences; we wouldn’t have motivation to challenge ourselves to learn something new; we wouldn’t have the chance to step out of our comfort zones and risk failure while aiming for success. Follow me through my CAS journey of various learning outcomes that I can present.
I have always prided myself in my proficiency in traditional martial arts (Shaolin Kungfu). It is a piece of art that connects me to my cultural roots and a form of demonstrating physical beauty. In my CAS experience of learning the style of "The Calling Crane", I review and take a deep look at a skill set that I am largely unfamiliar with. Not only was it different, but it was also going against many others that I have previously practiced before. The striking was light and nimble, from various directions in strange whip-like motions, marking its signature look of being unpredictable and unique. Due to my lack of flexibility, I had to put in a lot of extra footwork and relearn everything that I knew. Through adapting to this style, I identified my flaws and pushed myself into an area of my studies where I was talented, yet uncomfortable to approach, thus developing new areas for growth
I have met many challenges and picked up ample new skillsets during my CAS journey. For example, the picture to the left shows my friends and me practicing a barbershop arrangement. We were shocked at how different it was from choral singing, which we were good at. Thus we spent much time practicing to nail the musical phrasing, volume, and dynamics to balance each of our vocals out evenly in a small chamber music instrumentation.
The picture to the left show my lighting booth at the top of a venue that allows me to modify the stage lights according to the script of a musical. My crew panicked during this project as we did not expect to use such a small system, but we overcame by learning it on spot.
A long example of this would be serving as the 8th term student government's senior advisor. As I have experience in being the 6th term student president, I knew how the council functioned. To show the newly elected party the ropes, I have arranged weekly meetings to help them consolidate a solid rough schedule for their term. Together, we listed out and identify their activities, goals and aims, at the start of the year. Not only did it help with organization, it also maintained the council's functions as it reeminds them of the deadlines to be aware of in order to accomplish their activities to be hosted.
Following the afroementioned project as senior advisor, I furthermore engaged with the talent show they have created and served as the show's host consecutively for 4 months. Collaboratively adding on to the show, a group of friends and I were the ones that took action to hype it up with advertisements created, introducing judges, regulations, and participants alike, etc. Together, we contributed to the event to a large extent and got almost half the student body to attend.

During the yearly musical productions, I've experienced the viability for working collaboratively. Creating the musical: Seuss the Musical Jr. took half a year tfor us to finish all preparations. This included prop design of dozens of objects, painting the backdrop that stretches across the whole stadium, designing the lighting of the stage, and many more aspects. With a whole crew of almost 40, we were able to distribute the insane amount of work amongst us to finish our production of a well made musical show.
World Vision Club, a club dediated to advocate for and raise awareness for poverty, famine, MEDCs, and human rights taught me about a lot of these two subjects. Through recognizing people in need, we are engaged with those who suffer from the inability to access necessisties for survival, connecting us to the global issue of those aforementioned. A crucial thing to consider would be our choice of "How" and "What" we can do to help. As the club supervisor and president had stated, we want to ensure that our actions provide them with what they need instead of being in vain. For example, funding for online and digital education for an area that has no electricity would not be helping hand. We also had to make sure that our funds given where used properly. Therefore, we came accross the "Fund a Child" program, where we give finanical aid to a kid that requires better living conditions, and donated our money through the Offical World Vision Organization. The process was translucent and we made sure that all our funds were pput to good use. These funds we raised from Sports days sales, where we accomplished our mission of both raising awareness of these issue and collect funds through interactive games that give out factual but shocking information on the distance some individuals need to travel to get water for their daily use.
Thoughout my CAS experiences and projects, I have accomplished the goals and aims mentioned above. This writer would like to reinstate that CAS is not only a school required subject or work that we have to turn in, but it is a lifestyle. Through pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones to engage with various issues, skill-sets, large projects, collaboration, and others , would spark us to grow as a person and learn many new things.
