This week I made a Pinterest account. Making a Pinterest account may not be a big deal for everyone else, but it is a huge deal for me. I have been against making an account for years. Once I made an account and started to explore, countless things popped up that were of interest to me. One of the first things that I clicked on was a short video of someone making a flower weaving stitch. The end result was a flower chain keychain that I made (pictured). To complete this keychain, I utilized both Pinterest and YouTube to watch videos and demonstrations. From this I not only learned how to weave this flower stitch, I also gained insight into how Pinterest and YouTube can contribute to teaching new skills and fostering creativity.
Pinterest is an online social platform that allows people to see content related to things that they are interested in. Some of the things that people post on Pinterest are inspirational quotes, crafts, animals, etc.
I can incorporate Pinterest into lessons to make them hands on and engaging for the students. Pinterest could also be used as a teaching tool and a resource for ideas of activities to do with students. Students could also share things that they did or made on Pinterest, to help them learn to navigate technologies.
